Arrrr! So Madison be called Pinkeye now, as that's what she might have woken up with. Her eye was bothering her especially this morning, which was odd because the other eye was bothering her in a similar fashion during church last weekend. Daddy was able to flush out the culprit then, and sort of assist Madison in learning the fine art of being a mobile optometrist.
But this week was something different - it wouldn't go away. So with school just starting, the new contagious fad has moved on from lice to pink eye. Not that anyone else has had it in her classroom yet (only strepp throat so far for one unfortunate student). But the nurse on the phone said the classic line, "It's going around already." So we got a prescription for Madison with some eye drops this morning, and in fact things gradually improved as the day went along.
However, it was annoying her mightily to the point of tearful frustration this morning. So awake early we did, that in order to settle the problem. Daddy's on-the-spot solution was to read to her from one of our library books that we just got, in fact the next chapter book in the Jack Sparrow series.
He wound up reading the entire thing to her this morning over the course of the process. And over time, Madison's situation improved considerably. She likes these stories, and so Daddy went to the library's website to procure some more, only to find that they won't be available for us until a little later this week. Fortunately, we do have one more time travel chapter book available to us, in our possession. Rush Revere's next book will be started the next opportunity for storytime. That should be tomorrow night though.
The reason? Daddy spent the rest of the day at work, preparing for tomorrow's service. Part of those preparations involved getting the Ark of the Covenant ready. No, Daddy didn't put on that high priest outfit you see Belloq wear in "Raiders of the Lost Ark." But if you really want to know what is inside, there are three things currently there, waiting for tomorrow: the Ten Commandments (something Mommy found at Goodwill just two months ago!), Aaron's rod (complete with leaves hot-glued to the top), and a golden jar filled with manna (or, at least oatmeal). Each of these are a big part of our message tomorrow about not losing God's presence. Israel lost the ark, but we can just as easily lose God's presence over time if we are not careful.
Madison went back to the original Disney Infinity game today, to sail the high seas with Jack Sparrow and company. She worked on our new puzzle, spent some time drawing, and generally had a relaxing day. Tomorrow should be a bit more interesting - we're facing quarantine for Madison right now, as pink eye is contagious. But Daddy has a plan for her to see KidPak regardless, and feel almost like she's there. Hopefully all that will work out...
