Back to KidPak this morning, for two services with Madison. She loved the whole thing, as did all the other kids. The skits are fun, and the message was an oldie but a goodie. Some of these repeat series have us doing messages that date back long before Madison was even born. That was about the time we remember doing some of these messages first, and here we are again on this one or that. Of course, they're all modified and improved upon. We've tweaked them to be more current, or at least more relatable.
Back when these were first being done, we did a series for one month - and then switched the stage entirely. Now we go on for two months, and it seems a bit more relaxed in that regard. I worry that Madison may not be able to see all of the series that we once did, but we'll see as her time goes by - we've got several years of KidPak left to try them all out. And we're still doing new ones, which is great. We had a meeting about what's upcoming, and the next few series are all new.
The time travel theme we're about to do has got Daddy a little stressed in the development phase of things, but there's no question about the excitement in this area: Marty McFly is coming back to the future on October 21, 2015. It'll be a day everyone will be celebrating, a day that got here pretty quickly, considering it has been nearly thirty years already. No, we don't have flying cars yet and no, there isn't a hoverboard yet. But we don't have Cyberdyne, Road Warriors or a Planet of the Apes - so I'd say things turned out pretty well. We sometimes have this negative view of the future, and that's why one of the messages of "Tomorrowland" was so great. It's the theme of Disney in the fifties with Tomorrowland - the audacious idea that the future won't be that bad after all. As a child of the 80's, you sort of expect things to not turn out so well in the future, and in fact the more you analyze all the situations in the world, your viewpoint could become pretty bleak. But there's a scripture in Jeremiah 29:11 that we should cling to, and this may be one of the messages for our time-travel series: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow, and a happy ending on the way. Or as Bobby McFerrin would say, "Don't worry, be happy."
We didn't worry too much today - we did a lot of resting and unpacking still. And there was "Mr. Peabody and Sherman," another time travel movie we watched 'for research.' That's a fun movie, by the way. We had our popcorn, and our return to the couch for that one.
We all went to bed early tonight, which was much-needed. Soon, we'll all be getting up early for school, and that'll come as somewhat of a shock to the system. No, it's best to get adapted to that with some earlier nights to bed. Speaking of which, here we go now...!
