End of the Trail

The weather outside has been so unseasonably warm that look at this:  we're all having our KidPak meeting outside!  We were just outside in the amphitheater, and it was really pleasant.  This warmer weather is going to last a little longer, and it's certainly unusual given that the date is January 7th.  The other meteorological thing of note is the subject rain:  we haven't had enough.  The water levels in Lake Lanier have been steadily dropping.  This is the water issue that I knew was coming - I'm sure many did - but these seasons of low precipitation are inevitable, but this time when you add the explosive population growth in this region, the combination is potentially worrisome.

Maddie was back at college finishing up her first week, and talking with a counselor as well about the year up to date and what is to come.  Things are a little uncertain at the moment.  One thing that is certain is that Maddie was back over at Nate's again.  Tomorrow's a big day for him:  his birthday!  Maddie's been working on some really great cards for him, and they are actually very cool.

Meanwhile, we were doing our writing for the February booklet, and we're almost done with the whole thing.  We got the writing part done, but need to do some artwork, which of course is going to be done with AI.

I finished the walk to the Forbidden City today, a nice little journey into the past, both ancient history and of course more recent history as I was reliving some of the footsteps we ourselves took there.  There were pictures and videos to accompany this educational journey, and it was all pretty cool.  And finishing today lined up perfectly for tomorrow's themed walk, which you'll have to wait and see.  But here's a hint:

Tonight Aaron Viva was back with the team for a few episodes, in fact the final episodes of "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr."  We've had about four or fives episodes to go, but then Christmas movies and specials came so here we were tonight, resuming our binging of this classic western sci-fi series.  We both really like this one - it's such a fun and creative series, and I'm sad it didn't last any longer.  But it was a total blast with so many great characters and inside jokes and even a bit of drama in there.  We'll probably return again to this series some day, but for now, it's the end of the trail.

Mom is not well.  It's not too serious at the moment, but she's got the sore throat and the headache, and we've got to keep an eye on her.  We got to bed early tonight, and we're ready to help.  We read tonight, briefly, and then we said our prayers.  Time to get some shut-eye, partners!
