Gobble and Wattle and Snood and Caruncles

We had another fun day at KidPak this morning.  I had created this matching game that was somewhat like a memory game with cards to turn over, and of course it was boys versus girls.  The Friendsgiving theme went with the game where we were matching up friends, and if you peek over there to the bottom left, of course there was a six-seven match.  Here below are some pictures that Maddie took of the service, just a few from the collection that she shares on the church's website:

After church, Maddie went over to Nate's for a bit.  Mom and I went to work on the lawn a tiny bit - so many leaves out there.  I cleared some leaves off directly over a yellow jacket nest, and had no idea until I turned around and saw it there.  Thank you Lord!  Those little guys were all fired up as always, so I'll have to head there after dark to get rid of the nest.  But that's what I wrote today in the "What I'm Thankful For" spot I've created for the daily march on the Thanksgiving-themed virtual trail.  I was on that today, walking the treadmill while actually watching an old movie I hadn't seen in a really long time:  "Pocahontas II."  Yeah, we have a copy on VHS so I revisited this one, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.  I think they were trying to course correct to make the character match more or less the one from history, but of course the whole thing is pretty off compared to the real story.  I'm not complaining at all, because I like the movies.  I love those people that complain about the real-life age difference between John Smith and Pocahontas, while completely accepting that talking willow trees are real.

Anyway, moving on!  Today the names of two special turkeys were revealed:  Gobble and Wattle.  These are the two that will receive the Presidential pardon in a few days.  This led me to look up what exactly a wattle is.  I first misheard it and thought it was "waddle," as in what a turkey perhaps does instead of walking.  But yeah, it's "wattle," as in that thing that hangs from a turkey's beak.  And this led me to learn new turkey-related words like "Snood" and "Caruncle" too.  "Snood, Caruncle and Wattle" sounds like a Dr. Seuss themed Thanksgiving story, does it?

Tonight's movie was chosen by Mom, who wanted to see "Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas" again, which may or not have been based on our love of Tim Curry's performance as Forte, this large and really menacing pipe organ in the castle.  One of my Suno Christmas songs for this year based on his epic scream, "I'M BOLTED TO THE WALL!"

We enjoy this one too.  It's an old direct-to-video movie, but the cast reprises their roles and it all fits in somewhat with the original story.  Paul Reubens is in it too, which adds some fun.

Okay, time for bed.  This evening, we read from "Hogfather," and then it was time for prayers, and then some sleep.  Busy week ahead of us getting ready for Turkey Day!
