This LEGO Spider-man advent calendar is pretty fun so far! This might be one of my favorite pieces. We just got a Venom mini-figure in a Christmas scarf, and now there's a hot dog stand too! Pretty awesome way to start the morning. Oh, and don't forget it's St. Nicolas Day! Maddie left those boots out last night by the fireplace, and no, Krampus did not come. But someone left those boots filled with candy!
Maddie clings to that important rule of not moving the elf one bit, and we think that's funny. It's a sacred rule that goes back years and years, and here we are still strictly following it! Anyway, she got around that rule this morning a bit because the draw of chocolate was so strong. She was able to get some of the sweets from that other boot there, the one that Jingle Bell was not inside. And yes, there was much rejoicing. And chocolate!
Today I finished up the skit writing, getting a big skit done that helps kids memorize Luke 2:10-12. It's a big passage, and we had fun writing that one out. It involves cleaning products Tide and Joy, and it's kind of odd, but it's fun. An odd note about Joy. Some products seem to fade in quantity over the years, and yet you don't realize it. I don't go out and buy any specific detergents all the time, or soaps for that matter. And yet here I was looking for Joy in a grocery store, and lo! There was no Joy. There's no Joy in Publix! Alas, this must be remedied, as you can't have customers wandering around lamenting, "There is no Joy in Publix!" That just sounds awful. So I looked around for Joy, and yes, sometimes you have to work hard and search for Joy. And we did in fact order Joy - it cometh in the morning. But just in case that Joy did not arrive, I wanted to have some back-up Joy. So I searched for Joy at Wal-mart, and of course, there it was. Not in great quantities. No, there's not much Joy in Wal-mart. But I did find a little Joy in Wal-mart, and so I found my Joy, and now we'll be able to do our skit.
So it's cold. Yeah, really cold. This Canadian cold will hopefully go back home soon. I mean, were grateful for the visit and all, but don't outstay your welcome. Besides, there's no snow at all with any of this subfreezing weather. So get out of here if you're just going to make us shiver and that's it. No snow? Then go!
Lots of Team Edge practice tonight. Maddie is taking on a bit more at the last minute, this due to an unexpected injury from a teammate. She's doing well though! Tomorrow will no doubt be a more intensive practice though.
To celebrate the fact that Maddie was HOME ALONE last night, we watched HOME ALONE. Yeah, makes sense. We also watched that hilarious episode of "The Tick" where he went up against Multi-Santa, a pretty funny villain. I still laugh out loud at this television series.
We wrapped up the night reading "Hogfather," and saying our prayers. Time to get some sleep!
