Aisle of the Lost

At KidPak, if Madison gets all her answers filled out and all her dates stamped for a series, she gets a gift card to Wal-Mart for $10.  Rather than spend it right away, she's been saving up these cards, and in fact had $135 worth of cards as of this morning (with another one on the way this week).  It was time to spend it!  She's been saving up for her own computer, and today she got it after school.  Of course, it's a smaller one, and yes, Mommy and Daddy threw in some extra money as well to cover the cost difference.  But she really likes her new computer, and in fact was working on that essay she started yesterday, typing it on this new computer of hers and not having any trouble at all with it.

Daddy will figure out how to get some other things on this computer, but obviously the primary function is school-related stuff.

Another after school event today was meeting her new piano teacher, Ms. Naomi.  We all met tonight, and she seems to be a nice person, a younger girl who just recently took up a position as a choir director in a small church nearby.  She also helps younger children with piano lessons, and Madison has immediately taken a liking to her.  Madison played "Tightrope" for her, and did remarkably well with it, in fact the best I've ever heard her play.  The two talked about the upcoming year, assignments, and book requirements too - we have to order a book for her, basically the next book in line for piano, as if the classes from last year just keep on going.

We did some grocery shopping today, and had fun raiding the cereal aisle.  Madison called it the "Aisle of the Lost."  This was because we couldn't find Mommy for a bit (she was looking in a few other aisles for other items.

The weather has been hot today.  One item of note:  we went over the new bridge on Dawsonville Highway today.  The old green bridge structure is still there, and we were riding by it on this new bridge, higher up than that old green bridge.  It won't be long before we'll say goodbye to Browns Bridge as well, which isn't brown of course.  It's green.  I'm guessing there's someone named Brown somewhere.  But it is all rather confusing:  Browns Bridge is green.  It's like that truck company with the name "Yellow" that has its name written in orange.  These are things that must change, I say.  In fact, let's just say they're very important campaign issues!

And speaking of campaign issues, we've happened upon a candidate I wish I could vote for.  She's running for US Congress in California's 16th District, and here's something she posted on her social media:

Yes, they still have a Street Fighter machine there at Belmont Burger.  Ah, if only we were closer to Belmont Burger.  We would so be there!  Anyway, this woman named Elizabeth Heng is running for Congress, and if ever there was an issue that many of us could agree upon, it's Street Fighter!

The question now is, if she selects Chun Li, does she choose the red outfit, or the blue outfit?  Also, does this mean she's a neo-geo conservative candidate?

All these questions aside, it's great to see a political candidate this close to an arcade machine.  Seriously, how many other political candidates have you seen by an arcade machine?  She's from our generation, or younger (it doesn't matter).  What matters is that we all come from similar backgrounds, and that candidates - even for US Congress - are actually human beings too.  There's no real point to this, outside of the fact that it's great to see Street Fighter II recognized during a political campaign.  "I will fight for you, even if it means having to do a spinning bird kick!"

I'm really interested in seeing more Congresspeople play Street Fighter now.  Maybe that's how we can solve some of our differences!  You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance!
