Spy Wear

Today was a big day of preparation for costuming and gadgets for our Star Wars series tomorrow, among them these spy glasses you see above.  Daddy is wearing something a character will be wearing on stage, although we may wait until we see the lights later on - they look kind of cool, don't they?  Mommy spent a great deal of time assembling costumes, and we did a lot of printing, editing, and arranging music, plus coordinating some extra actors and cleaning things up a bit too.  It was a big day at the office, but as soon as we were done, we went over to the mini-golf course once more, but not to play mini-golf.  We went there to get some more ice cream!  We noticed last night that they had some tasty ice creams there, and it's right next to the church pretty much.  All that said, we made a decision yesterday that we'd come back to the golf course very soon just to get ice cream.  It turns out that we actually came here tonight!

Speaking of things to eat, this morning we prepared for the day with a really great breakfast, all cooked up on the skillet.  There's just something visually awesome about a big, wide skillet with a wide array of breakfast foods on there, from potatoes to eggs to sausages and peppers.  It was a perfect breakfast Mommy had set up, one we all enjoyed very much!

Tonight we watched the movie version of "A Series of Unfortunate Events," which you know if you've been following this blog that we've been reading.  Tonight we continued our unfortunate reading with another portion of "The Carnivorous Carnival," and when Daddy found out we actually owned the old movie on DVD, we watched that version as well.

It's okay, and if you haven't read the books, you'd probably like it even more.  As is, we've read the books - obviously - and the movie was just basically a highlights reel of different things that happened in the first three books.  In short, the three of us prefer the television series more, as does the actual author of the book, from what I understand.  In its defense, the movie just didn't have enough time to cover so much material, and as a result a lot is cut out.  Perhaps trying to do three books in the course of one movie was too much.  Yet with all the story points left out, the movie curiously added a scene with an approaching train that is not in the books - at least so far.  Also left out:  Mr. Poe's coughing fits.  Anyway, it's an enjoyable enough movie, but again, we like the television series better, when given the choice between the two.  And ultimately, it's the books themselves that are the best, which is why we've been reading them each night before bed.

Which is what we did tonight, of course.  Along with prayers for tomorrow's new series and service, and a good night's rest.  Tomorrow is clearly not going to be an unfortunate event.  You don't need fancy spy glasses to see that much.
