1st KidPak of the Year

Madison has been doing a lot of fashion designs of her own lately.  This is one of her creations, above.  And this is one of many.  She's got a huge flip book, and it's been page after page after page of designs, all colorful and unique, from "Country Girl" to "Elvin Fashion."  The latter is designs for one of her favorite characters in the new Hobbit Trilogy, and elf named Tauriel.

Madison was listening to Shire music again as she was helping Daddy cut out stars for tonight's service at KidPak.  In small groups, we had these stars that Daddy painted outlines on, using glow-in-the-dark paint.  Each star had the reminder for the kids to be the light of the world, and each star was taped to the back wall - we turned off the lights, and there was a starry sky on the back wall there.  It was great - Daddy even had the emergency lights pulled out in the classroom so it'd be pitch black in there.  Except the glowing stars.  To help out with the message tonight, he also showed off the fluorescent rock collection and the ultraviolet light, using these to illustrate glowing in the dark.

The neat thing about glow-in-the-dark items - and the message - is that they have to be around the Light first, and then they glow on their own.  But they'll fade on their own, so they must keep returning back to the Light in order to keep their glow.  That's why we return to fasting each year, eh?

Anyway, 'twas a good message.  Tonight, Madison got to go, as she doesn't get up too early in the morning.  She had a great time, and soon after, we were back out in the cold, racing home to the warmth and blankets and heaters.  It's too cold out there!  But it's not as bad weather-wise as it is elsewhere, that's for sure.

Tonight, we read from John, and then from "The Westing Game," saying our prayers, and going to bed under our nice warm blankets.
