This morning started out with a return to KidPak, and a return to awesome. We had these little posters made, and yep, that one with "Sunday Funday" is based on the Bangles song. Madison is seen above with Camille, Isaac, and Pastor Lance. You can also see a new guy next to Pastor Lance, an unnamed LEGO figure that we finally got together yesterday. He came out really great! Here's another look:
Mommy and Daddy worked late on this guy, gluing pieces of rolled up camping mats that we spray painted with primer and then primary colors. We worked on this on and off for the last few weeks, amongst several other tasks, but as you can see above, it came out really well!
It was a big hit of the morning, as it looks really good. We'll tweak it the next few days, although not today. The reason for that is that we had our annual visit to Brenau once more to see the latest WonderQuest production, "The Jungle Book."
Madison went out with us and all the other happy audience members to meet all the new characters, and collect some autographs too. Above, you can see her with one of the girls that held up the ginormous Kaa puppet. Below, she's interacting with Baloo.
For years now, it's been a tradition to go around to visit the various cast members and get their autographs on the program, and then pose for a picture with each one. This afternoon was no different. We took many photos, of course you can't see them all here. But we'll share a few, including these two characters as well.
We got to the theater a little early after dropping by for some fast food at McDonald's. The weather outside was cool, and just perfect as far as fall weather goes. The plays are always short and sweet, a perfect length for younger kids, although we wish it would go on longer because they're so well done.
And here's Bagheera above, who did a great job with her performance. The story was not an exact version of the one we know, although it could mirror the book more. We've never read the books by Rudyard Kipling, but have seen a few versions of the story in movies, including that recent live action version of "The Jungle Book."
Here are the monkeys. Not the ones with Davy Jones, but the goofy ones - and one looks familiar because we saw him recently in "Peter and the Star Catchers." Note how the costumes aren't straight-up renditions of the various animals. Example, here below is Shere Kahn.
He was pretty awesome as the villainous carnivore. Here, he looks a bit more friendly. The costuming department has always been something fresh and exciting, and honestly we look forward to the wardrobe just as much as anything else going on the stage. Madison enjoyed the play, as did all of us. It was certainly a great start to the month of October!
We got home, and without any energy after the long day of working yesterday, and the long day out and about today, we decided to plop down on the couch and begin our October movie fest - at home, at least. We started with "Hotel Transylvania," which still makes us all laugh. Afterwards, it was time for grateful prayers, and three chapters from the latest Nancy Drew book. Madison is so hooked on this one, but so are we. We've got to find out what happens next!
