Mad Dash/Eagle Dash

Today was the day of the Eagle Dash, which was the Bubble Run last year and the Color Run the two years before that.  Madison has been eligible for this special school event the last few years - you become eligible by raising a certain amount of money, which also gets you a t-shirt.  Madison could have gone with the rainbow, but she went with the red, white and blue t-shirt.  It looks great!

Here she is jumping over a few obstacles.  Each station here was set up with an obstacle course of sorts.  In this case, it was just jumping over bars.  But other stations had large inflatables set up:

Madison had a great time, of course.  So did all the kids.  Here she is above, beating one of the boys on the inflatable obstacle course.  It's one of those really long ones with a large slide at the end.

Daddy was here to take pictures for the yearbook again, although he hasn't missed one of these events over the past few years.  Madison is quite confident whatever the activity, full of energy and ability.  It's great to see her attack these courses, keeping up with the others, or in some cases, surpassing them.  She's just one of the gang.

This activity had kids dragging a tire around a cone not too far off.  What kind of sick mind comes up with a relay race like this?  I mean, in what world would you define this as "fun?"  Regardless, the kids did actually enjoy it.  Perhaps because it was so strange!

Anyway, Daddy and Josh were working on our mystery for Get a Clue, or at least one mystery.  You'll hear about that more in a bit.  When Madison got home, she was sharing with us all the good grades she's been getting.  She did get a 100% on her science test.  In fact, I think it was a 105%.  Other papers, she got similar grades - she's doing really well in school.  They tested her today for future placement into advanced classes, and the tests were a few hours long.  We'll see how she did later, although Madison said she felt like she did well enough.

When Daddy got home, there was a tea party ready to go!

You can see here that Madison got a new Alice costume today, along with a Queen of Hearts pin too. Mommy has a Cheshire Cat hat, something Madison said she wouldn't mind wearing when winter comes around.

We had tea and proper tea party sandwiches and desserts, all thanks to Mommy.  Also, you can see some decorations on the table, including stuffed animals, those Disney Infinity figures and an authentic Alice in Wonderland teapot.  Daddy wore our Mad Hatter hat:

It was a perfectly lovely occasion, with a bit of the Alice in Wonderland soundtracks playing in the background for good measure.  We didn't scream out, "Clean cup!" and rotate around the table, but we did have a perfectly respectful tea party!

Mommy looks good in her Cheshire Cat hat.  Speaking of which, once the tea party was over, we sat down to watch "Alice Through the Looking Glass" once more, the movie where Time plays a big part.  We got the popcorn and sprawled out on the couch, ready for another trip to Wonderland.  Not through the rabbit hole, but this time through the looking glass.

We're all mad here.  Tonight we read from a new Nancy Drew book, a mystery involving a bungalow.    In fact, it's called "The Bungalow Mystery."  Get ready for a lot of mysteries around here, because next week we start "Get a Clue," and there'll be lots of sleuthing going on around here!
