End of our Stay

Generally, you're up frequently throughout the night, and with a great big window like this, it is kind of hard to miss a sunrise each morning.  It's a slight perk for folks staying in our room, although the mountain view is pretty astounding too - you can see all the North Georgia Mountains from this height, all of this through a series of windows we walk to a few times each day.  Mommy has been walking a bit more, which is good for the system of course.  The nurses have been outstanding, and things have just gone so well here.  She's healing remarkably fast, so much so that we got some good news today.

The flowers and gifts keep coming too.  And the visitors as well.  This morning, Josh dropped by again with some homemade concoction, a fruit juice he mixed using stuff from his garden along with some lemons and apples.

But the good news?  Today, we went home.  It took a bit of time between the "you can go home" and the "okay, we're home," but that's usually the case at a hospital.  Mommy used that time to rest up, sleeping very solidly.  The pain and nausea medications help see to that.

She took a few pills last night before going to bed, but made it the entire night without having to take anything until morning.  And today at lunch, she sampled her first solid food in quite some time.  Daddy sampled the cafeteria, which usually has some good food selections.

It was a good day, for obvious reasons.  We're very excited about Mommy getting to come home, especially Madison, who gave her a tremendous hug.  There was quite a bit of emotion tonight as we met at home.  Madison was coming home from ballet with Nana and Ba-Ba, who were great this week taking care of Madison, doing taxi service and so forth.

Tonight, we read from our Bible, and our Jack Sparrow book as well.  ALL of us went to bed pretty early though - sleeping in the hospital was on-and-off again for Daddy, and it goes without saying that Mommy needed lots of rest.  She's recovering well though, so much so that the doctor is confident she'll be fine at home.  Lots of people are sharing their joy with us at this wonderful recovery.  It's been a very special week!
