Sitting down... or are they?

Here's a bit of an illusion at the church - for some reason they've had this grass-looking carpet fixed to one of the walls there for over a year.  Madison and Josh are here with their backs to the floor, and their legs up on the wall, which is something we all tend to do from time to time for a joke picture.  We've just never really done one before with Madison, who seemed to get the gag right away!

Today was Mommy and Daddy's 14th anniversary.  This is easy to figure because the year is 2014, and we were married in 2000.  Madison was anxious to wish us a happy anniversary first thing this morning in bed, which was awfully nice.  In fact, she said "Happy Anniversary" about fourteen times throughout the day!

This photo was actually taken by a friend of ours on our wedding day, at a pretty happy moment.  It's after the ceremony is over and the partying is starting to wind down that the reality sinks in, as does the relief of the end of all the planning and effort.  We were just a few hours away from being whisked away to Hawaii for a happy honeymoon the next few weeks.

We'll be celebrating our anniversary a little better next week when we have a bit more time - this week has been one of packing, working, and just a lot of work, really.  We had a huge creative meeting about the upcoming series where we got a lot done, and got a whole lot done.

Madison did a lot of reading today, thanks to a recent library visit.  I think we have about twenty-something things taken from the library after our last drop-by!  We'll return many of them in a few days when we drop by for the next library program.  Already, Madison has been reading a lot of them, and watching the DVDs that were taken out too.  Daddy has been watching some for research as well, especially the videos on deep sea diving to really low places, like Challenger Deep.  It's amazing that there are creatures that live so far down beneath the sea where the temperatures are so extreme, and devoid of light.  We've been watching these each night, but also watching some fun under-the-sea movies for "research" as well.  Today we watched "Ponyo," which was actually a good movie - the three of us love watching Miyazaki movies.  We'd never seen this one before, and while we agree it isn't at the same level as some of his other efforts, this was still an enjoyable flick.

So it was a restful, ordinary day for Madison.  She's been playing with her ponies a lot lately, and watching "My Little Pony" episodes too.  And then there's the piano playing - she's practicing that too. The weather has been pleasant and warm, without much rain lately - at least up here in this area.  Madison has been faithfully watering our garden in the back though, which is her official job each day. She's very responsible in that regard, each day announcing how she has to get out there and do her watering.  Already, we've got some small peppers and tomatoes growing - we're anticipating a big crop!
