B Resort

We spent a good part of the day at the grandparents' house, eating a big breakfast and lounging about generally.  Daddy is reading a few books down here, including "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."  Also a "Kingdom Keepers" novella, which is a new word to me.  It basically means "not-quite-a-novel."

We also did a puzzle today - this was the world-famous Godzilla 100-piece puzzle.  It's world-famous because we haven't opened it yet, and have had it around for about fourteen years.  But Madison was ready for a 100-piece puzzle today, in fact ready for something larger afterwards.  This was a "puzzle appetizer," something we were able to handle together quickly.

And soon afterwards, we were on our way to Orlando once more.  This time, it was to the Downtown Disney area hotels, where we hadn't stayed in quite some time.  The reason for our choice of hotel this go-round was a remarkable deal - we have reservations for three nights at the B Resort.

Madison noticed the large "B" on the hotel right away, of course.  And the large "H" on the nearby hotel too.  But soon we were in the lobby where we saw this neat rainbow-colored chair:

It's a tall hotel - I think about seventeen stories tall.  The insides were all marble and white, somewhat like a mall department store.  There was even hints of perfume in the air to suggest that we weren't actually at a resort, but instead ready to shop for women's clothing or something.  There were lots of incentives to stay here beyond the price - this is a new resort still being fixed up, and there is free breakfast each morning, and not just the ordinary continental kind.  In fact, this is the "super continental" kind, with lots of tasty options.  But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Our room's theme was similar in look - when we arrived, we were quite comfortable.  The look - especially in the bathroom - was something altogether different from our usual fare.

It was really nice.  And the people at the resort were really nice as well, ready to jump at every need we had - which wasn't much really.  All Mommy wanted was a cup of tea, and in a few moments, there was hot water delivered to the room to make that tea.

The view from the hotel was pretty neat:  we could see Downtown Disney, of course.  And beyond that you could see Expedition Everest, and you could even see the Contemporary Resort in the distance.  Translation:  we could see a couple fireworks show each night, which was pretty cool.

But first things first:  after packing things up in the room, it was off for a brief excursion to Downtown Disney, specifically for some Ghirardelli ice cream.

It almost didn't happen.  The parking at Downtown Disney right now is absolutely miserable.  And that's saying it in a nice way.  We circled the parking lot there for close to 45 minutes, along with many other cars in a competitive game of chance, waiting to be that one car that happens to be coming along as someone pulls out of their parking place.  We prayed a prayer, and made a resolution after about 45 minutes:  if we don't find a spot after this next swing-through, we're going back to the hotel.  Daddy rolled down the window and talked to some folks walking to their parking spot.  "Hey there, we're not stalking you," he said.  Fortunately, they had a sense of humor, and understood our predicament - and led us to their spot.

Afterwards, it was a walk through Downtown Disney, which is going with the "Under Construction" theme.  There is so much real estate there that is blocked off right now, and so many people too.  Our goal was simple though:  get some tasty ice cream, and check out the galleries and stores afterwards.  That we did, starting with the ice cream.  The usual scramble for a table was surprisingly easy, as Mommy and Madison found a good spot quickly - while Daddy got the ice cream.  We sat together with a Strike-it-Rich, and a big scoop of ice cream for Madison - with sprinkles.

Afterwards, we went to Trend-D, and "Once Upon A Toy," of course.  That's when the rain came.  It was a huge, mincing storm that was coming our way, and there wasn't much to do, but stay indoors, really.  That we did - we always spend a lot of time looking around at all the stuff in those two stores.  And afterwards, we dashed over to the gallery area to see all the artwork.  Interestingly, there were quite a few pictures that had a "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" theme about them this visit.  See that theme working itself into every area lately?  Get this, even this Friday morning, there is a new Mickey Mouse Club House episode - with a "Under the Sea" theme.

Anyway, we made the long walk back to our spot, tonight watching the fireworks as we walked, rather than from our hotel room.  That's okay, we've got a few more nights to go.  Tonight we wanted a good night's rest, as tomorrow is a bigger day.  Still, it's a relaxed pace, as we head off to SeaWorld.
