Kindergarten

It's official:  we have a kindergartner!  So here she is, our little girl on her first morning off to school.  Of course, last year we had a similar picture of her off to pre-school.  But this is the official launch of her educational career, to some.  And she's looking stylish this morning too - note the new lunch box Mommy got for her with Minnie Mouse.  Also, the Disney Princess shirt.  When looking for lunchboxes earlier, Madison was leaning towards Star Wars characters, but Mommy wisely waited until later to go for the more girlish choice!

So the first thing Mommy and Daddy noticed after we dropped her off at school was this:  quiet.  It was so quiet in our house.  Not that Madison is a noisy girl, but the one thing I didn't really see coming was the fact that there was always something to do to keep her busy with.  Now, we have teachers to do that, and hopefully more capably when it comes to learning things like math and so forth.

Today, Madison did learn a bit about math, and a bit about letters too.  Although much of today was probably dedicated to procedures, and learning how to be the best student possible.

In the afternoon, it was her first school bus ride home.  Mommy and Daddy waited at the bus stop for about an hour - we had no idea when it was getting there, through no fault of our own.  They just have to work out some of the kinks there.  We sat with a lot of other parents, waiting.  And, of course, there happened to be an epic rain storm while we were all waiting.  We're talking menacing dark clouds and strong gusts of wind, mixed in with brilliant bolts of lightning and thunderous booms.  Madison's bus stop is pretty much across the street, but we wanted to be there for her.  Fortunately, a neighbor has somewhat adopted her on the bus, escorting her off and keeping her safe.  We'll see how the bus ride goes in the future - hopefully everything will be okay there.

The rest of the day was a blur - there isn't much time once you get home from school.  Time for dinner (spaghetti) and time for something quick (a bit of video games - she's earned a Mom buck for playing the keyboard).  But homework is coming soon, as are the other practice days (ballet, piano).  A busy season is coming soon!
