KidPak Jr

Today was Madison's first day at KidPak Jr, which is our church's place for kindergartners and a lighter version of KidPak, where Daddy and Mommy spend most of their time.  She had a really good time down there, excited to be in a new class with a new teacher - she relishes these new experiences, it seems.  Daddy wasn't a big fan of new stuff, but Madison seems to look forward to each new day.  That said, she was very excited about her new teacher and her new class at church.  She also seemed to enjoy the rock wall there!

We got home and had lunch, and then did some serious relaxing.  Madison is still in pirate mode after the cruise, so we did some Lego Pirates of the Caribbean again.

Also on the menu for tonight were the Closing Ceremonies for London's Olympic Games.  The Spice Girls were there, which was a fun little bit in the middle.  Outside of that reunion, the Closing Ceremonies weren't exactly the greatest thing we've ever seen - certainly they weren't anywhere near as epic as the ones in Beijing.  For example, the Annie Lennox number was really puzzling, as Daddy enjoys her music and couldn't put together what all the goth stuff had to do with the song she was singing.  Also, the fashion segment was odd.  But the weirdest highlight of the evening would have to be Fatboy Slim performing on top of a ginormous inflatable transparent octopus.

Who makes this stuff up?
Madison didn't get to see any of this because it was broadcast a lot later, even though it was technically over with hours earlier (that time difference, remember?).  Still, she sat with us beforehand and watched some highlights from the Games.  We've been watching stuff together, and she's been into seeing the variety of sports.

Over all, it was a nice day after church - nice and quiet.  Tomorrow we go back to school of course, and that means waking up early again, and getting that routine started.  That said, we'd better turn in for the evening.  You know something?  Daddy's having a hard time getting that song out of his head...
