Mommy bought a neat little birdhouse for Madison to decorate, and so our little painter got busy with her pastel colors, making a nice home for some future bird family. As you can see, she did it all in her Cinderella dress as well! The weather outside is changing to summer, as the temperatures have decided that perhaps it's time after all to stay on the warm side. April was a rough month, for obvious reasons, but May holds much promise - at least as long as Daddy can get better. There is so much to do, and his condition is somewhat limiting at the moment.
Still, to have the energy of Madison! What a dynamo! She'll turn and ask, "What you want to do with me?" Roughly translated: "Whatcha' wanna' do?"
Refusing to watch television or play video games, we quickly devise something up. Daddy actually ventured out of the house today - don't think me lazy. I'm still in recovery mode, and despite my ambition to get out of the house and do something - do anything - the facts are that this body isn't quite ready for such bold steps. We went to the library and the grocery store today, and that was about it. And yet, it felt like a huge journey when it was all said and done.
Daddy sat and read to Madison on the front porch in the cool of the day, one book after another. We're reading simpler books, ones that Madison can actually recognize sight words within. In one case, Madison was actually able to read the book to us, which was so very cool.
We did relent and watch a movie together tonight: "Bolt." Madison loves this one, but so do we. Rhino is a great character, if you haven't seen it before. We had fun together on the couch watching the movie, and when it was all said and done, it was time for bed for Madison. And Daddy too. Poor Mommy - this week it has been like she's watching after two kids!
