Blame it on the Rain

Seriously, I haven't seen this much rain in quite some time. It'd be nicer if the weather was warmer. But right now it is 34 degrees and tomorrow's high is 39, with more rain on the way. It's late now, and the rain is pouring on the roof. Usually, I'd agree with Eddie Rabbit. But lately I'm about tired of rainy nights!

It's been an indoors sort of day for us again. Daddy read a book or two with Madison, cooked some noodles and snuggled with her as we watched "Rapunzel." It is a Barbie movie, and believe it or not, it isn't that bad. The animation is decent and the story better than you'd expect. We've seen a couple Barbie movies so far, and each one has been surprisingly good. Of course, you don't put them up there on a pedestal next to a Pixar movie - but each one does hold Madison's attention. I plan on getting some more soon, because Madison seems to enjoy them. In fact, for a fairy one we watched today, both Madison and I had to put on our wings again. Madison was quite insistent about this!

One bright spot of this week was our discovery of an upcoming event in Chamblee at the Chinese Cultural Center. They are kicking off the Year of the Tiger with plenty to do:

The festival features traditional dragon dance, lion dance, drum performance, authentic Chinese food, Chinese cultural arts and crafts, calligraphy demonstration, Chinese music and dance performance, Chinese opera performances, etc.

Ye-Ye and Nana are coming along, and so are Aunt Shain and Madison's cousins. It'll be a great day, and a great way to celebrate the Chinese New Year. We still have to find Madison an appropriate outfit, but that'll be fun shopping for. Daddy and Mommy will wear theirs as well. In fact, take a look at Madison and Mommy last year, as they watch the Lion Dance.

Mommy looks good in that black outfit, and Madison was so small! She loved seeing the Lion Dance, and actually was roaring back at the dancers each time they came closer.

She's seen this performed a few times since she's been with us, most recently at the Dragon Boat Festival. Each time, it is a delight. She stands up and starts laughing, and pointing. And roaring! This year, we plan on letting her "feed" the lion a red envelope, which should be a lot of fun to watch.

Anyway, next weekend will be a busy weekend: Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day are both only a week away!
