It's Godzilla!

And he's dressed fashionably!  Daddy was going through a box or two in the garage, and Madison just had to pull out a few Godzilla toys she found inside one.  Upstairs in the kitchen, Madison had some beads that she thought would make Godzilla look absolutely darling!  It was funny - while Daddy was working, she sat there and played with all these Godzilla figures just as if they were Barbie dolls or princess dolls.  That's my girl!

I am not kidding:  she was playing with a Godzilla puppet (seen to your left), Godzilla cupholders, Godzilla banks, and all the other Godzilla figures for almost an hour as I sat here on the computer!

You may be wondering why we have so many Godzilla things.

FLASHBACK!

It was precisely ten years before we got our referral photo of Madison that Mommy and Daddy first went out on their first movie date.  It was May of 1998.  Most couples go to see a romantic movie, or some sort of love story.

Not Mommy and Daddy.  The first movie we saw together was Godzilla.  For a few years afterwards, Daddy would throw in a Godzilla figure alongside a present for Mommy.  When she got perfume for Christmas, there Godzilla would be holding the container for Mommy.  My favorite might be the Easter basket made for Mommy:  it featured a giant Godzilla with bunny ears stomping through the basket, with a bunch of skyscrapers made from grey-painted candy boxes turned sideways.

After years and years of picking up a Godzilla here or there, we wound up with a box full of them.    It's a pretty big box of Godzilla stuff in the garage, and the toys have to be from the 1998 movie in order for it to be official.  The toys above that Madison is playing with are from the 1998 movie, of course.  Just had to make that clear.

One year, we decided to send out a Christmas card with a Godzilla on it.  Mommy and Daddy sent one out that had Godzilla attacking a gingerbread house, and got a few laughs from our friends.  Well, ever since then we've had a different card every year for Christmas to send out.

Obviously, some people don't - and won't - get it, so we send an alternate card out too.  BUT, the Godzilla Christmas Card is somewhat of a tradition now.  And if I haven't given enough hints already, those of you out there accustomed to receiving one have probably figured out that Daddy and Mommy finished making the card design today.  That's right, all we have to do is print them out and put them in the mail.

Sorry - you'll have to wait to see it until December!
