Pilgrim Postcard

Marching along with the Thanksgiving virtual path, I managed to earn another post card here.  Today's card came with a brief history of Thanksgiving Day, the journey and hardships of the Pilgrims, and of course the assistance from the local population already here.

It's cold outside.  Just as advertised, the temperature dropped to the thirties, and tonight it's in the twenties.  For Georgia, that's chilly.  I was bringing up the big Christmas tree from the basement - it has to be lugged up from the basement outside because of its size, and while I was carrying the tree, I began to notice snow flurries falling down.  How wonderful to see snow flurries while carrying a Christmas tree!  Later on tonight while driving, we saw more - just little flurries.  They get you excited, even with no promise of snow accumulations here.  Elsewhere, the pictures of snowfall are nice in the mountains and further north.

Maddie was at college again this morning, marching through the cold herself in order to get to class.  Afterwards, we all got home and that's when she got back to work on that puzzle for a bit, and of course there was the tree to fluff up.  It's a big process with these trees - we'll put lights on it tomorrow, and by week's end you'll see a picture of that one.  In the meantime, here's the living room Christmas tree at night.

Maddie and the others fought the cold tonight to go to taekwondo, and that was a good crowd there despite the weather.  They were all talking about the competition, and training for the future - the next big one is in Grovetown, which of course is where Maddie first saw a competition.

Oh, speaking of competitions, we got to see the new holiday baking contest tonight on television, and that was pretty fun.  It got us pretty excited to use the oven that was delivered just today.  We were going to get it installed, but there's no cut-off valve for the gas pipe.  Oops!  We'll have to call a plumber.  Maybe someone will show up that looks like Mario.  One can only hope!

It's cold out there, but we have the virtual Yule Log on the television burning brightly as there's various Christmas tunes playing.  Tonight we read a bit more from "Jingo," almost to the end now.  We're seeing once again that the Patrician is quite clever, which I already knew.  He's my favorite character of the Discworld.  After reading, it was time for prayers - and some sleep!
