X-Men 97

So much nostalgia lately.  This is another one of those things from over thirty years ago, and here they are resurrecting it.  And I love it.  I mean, it's being resurrected as if no time has passed, right when this show stopped in '96, and now here's 1997's new season... in 2024.  Tonight we watched "X-Men '97" and I'm not going to lie:  I was pretty emotional.  I mean, the updated theme song had me just so excited, especially when it was played while the entire team was facing off against giant robot Sentinals.  All the feels.  The good news is that Maddie was enjoying it too.  I may have mentioned at one time in this blog that the name "Jubilee" was on an early list of names for Maddie before we met her, and yes, this show is the reason why.  Anyway, we were having a great time watching this after taekwondo tonight.

That went well, by the way.  Maddie was doing her form and doing this wild kick - she'll have to tell you the kind of kick it is - but it was something different, and the entire team was challenged, practicing time and again against the big cushions there, attempting to strike the target with their other foot.  Again, maybe she can describe it better.  But she had a great time tonight as always.

And it was a good day at school too.  She's been deep in AP Calculus, as there's a big test upcoming.  And she's enjoying her work with the elementary school still, gaining more experience each day.  She's remarkable with smaller children.  I mean that, Maddie. She so much better with those younger children than I am.  Not that I'm impatient or sharp with them, but Maddie just has an inherent ability to communicate with them and get down on that level.  She's dong well there, adn she does well when helping instruct with taekwondo.  We're super proud of her!

Let's see... today was all about costumes and props for Mom and I.  We're still racing against time with certain things for the Easter production, while other things are pretty much the same as before.  There are these new costumes, these immense fans... they're so big.  You'll just have to wait and see them.  Can you believe it's just a week away?  Yes, only a week until Good Friday.  This Sunday is Palm Sunday, and we've got all the palms ready, ordered long ago.  I started ordering these two decades ago, just because I was raised in a church that gave them out at Easter.  And here we are still doing it, and folding the palms into little crosses.  Maddie is a pro at it.  She'll have thirty done so quickly, while I'm just starting to get the hang of it, doing four.  We use this template here, which gets a lot of hits this time of year on the blog - I actually got it from somewhere else, and it's quite useful.

Tonight we read from our Star Wars book, a story about a Tusken Raider on Tatooine, and like the jawa we read about last night, this character is discontent with life on Tattooine.  I mean, doesn't anyone actually want to live there?  I would imagine the space tourism industry there is going to explode - not like Alderaan of course.  I mean, Tattooine is the location of some of the most important events in the galaxy's history.  Surely some space entrepreneurs will be coming along to capitalize on that.  I mean, here's the Dune Sea.  There's Mos Eisley.  There's Obi Wan's homestead, where the greatest jedi knight of all time lived for years.  There's the place where Luke Skywalker, legend and savior of the galaxy, grew up!  I'm just saying some folks are bound to want to live there nearby all this stuff.  Eventually, you can see certain areas get built up like Pigeon Forge.  It won't be long before there's go-kart tracks, or at least small pod racing tracks.  And no doubt there'll be a wax museum with replicas of famous Rebellion heroes, Imperial villains, and all kinds of scoundrels in between.  The hotel industry will blossom, with large resorts and massive luxurious spas.  It'll be like a day at the beach, minus the actual ocean part.

Anyway, we said our prayers tonight.  Mom's getting much better, and that's good.  We all had some Mickey ice cream bars, and those were a bit pricy, but good.  We sort of missed those on the cruise ship, but in our defense we had ice cream like a couple times a day on that boat.  Seriously.  Anyway, we enjoyed a few ice cream bars, and after reading tonight, it was time for prayers... and bed.  Tomorrow we've got a great day ahead of us!
