Sweeney Todd

So tonight we finally saw the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, a guy named Sweeney Todd. You can see the programs above and a few of the "pies" we picked up too, ones Mrs. Lovett would approve of.  These are cupcakes decorated as pies.  But for good measure, there were some apples pies available with concessions too.  Super fun!  Anyway, we were here at Gainesville High School to see a friend perform, and it's a story that none of us had ever seen before.

Javier's son, Caleb, played Mr. Perelli, and had a great performance early on.

Note:  just about everyone in this play dies!  Again, we hadn't seen it before, but the decorations in the lobby were perfect.

There were all these pies, each one with a cast or crew member's picture posted overhead, with candles lit and red curtains draped across the walls.    There must have been something like fifty or sixty of them all lined up as if in a bakery.  It really set things up for the production!

Afterwards we met with everyone and posed for a few pictures with Caleb and took a picture of Javier, Karla and Caleb together.  But it was a long play - we had to get to sleep.  But the three of us enjoyed the evening and were glad to go.  I think the decision was made not to see any other version of this story, but at the same time we're glad we did see it, and in fact saw this version of it.

The rest of the day was busy with us getting things done for filming Thursday, plus working on this Sunday's stuff too.  Maddie was at Chestatee Elementary, and after that studying history and the Cold War.  We read before bed tonight, and we said our prayers as well.  It was a pretty good day.
