Back to Chestatee

Maddie was back at Chestatee Elementary School today, this time to be a teacher's assistant.  She and the rest of her class got on a bus, as they'll be doing for a little while, and went to assist in the classrooms.  Maddie was back with Mrs. Garrett, which is pretty amazing.  Was that her kindergarten teacher?  Wow, so long ago.  Maddie had a fantastic time today with plenty of stories of children giving hugs, with many of them saying random and funny things in class - just as kindergarteners tend to do.  The school has changed a good bit on the inside, and Maddie was just glad to be back this morning.  It's a half day, and she'll be coming back a good number of times the next few weeks, so that's exciting for her.

Mom and I were continuing our DeSantafication process, taking down ornaments and wreaths.  The wreaths especially, because there was strong rain predicted, and yes, it was super heavy tonight.  The area is in desperate need of rain, so this is good.  Obviously any flooding or negative impact is not good, so we're sort of wary of that.

Tonight we started "The Chosen" again, the idea being to go through the three seasons and start off February with season four, possibly even in the theater.  One episode, and then an episode of "Monk."  Maddie is seriously hooked on that show - we're now somewhere early in season four, with plenty to go.  We've held off on this recent "Monk" movie that reunites the cast, just so Maddie can go through all the seasons and see how the big issues resolve themselves.  Honestly, the season finale really wraps up things nicely - a perfect ending.  But that's a good while from now, at this rate.

Our diet has changed, and that's good.  We're trying out these new foods, and staying away from sugar and meats.  It's been a great shift, although the initial weeks always have you up and scrounging for nuts or fast-friendly items, and then you need to back off and remember the whole point of the thing.

Speaking of which, we're starting a new Hillsdale College course covering some stories within the book of Genesis.  Mom and I sat down and got started today, and it should be a nice little addition to our fasting season, digging deeper into some of these portions of the Bible.

Another funny thing we saw tonight was the animated Napoleon Dynamite series, episode one.  I picked that up as a Christmas gift, and it's only six episodes, but it uses all the original actors and writers, and it is worth a watch.  The first episode is hilarious - we were laughing frequently.  Love these characters.

Tonight we closed things up with reading, and with prayer, of course.  It's raining hard out there, and is supposed to all night.  We tucked everyone in, got under the blankets and got to sleep.  We woke up a few times because of some super loud explosive thunderclaps outside, all except for Maddie, who tends to sleep through largely anything!
