Pirate House

Someone was lighting fireworks off at the beach tonight, I guess because it's Labor Day.  I'm sure they're going back and picking up all the debris afterwards too, right?  We were making our way to Nana and Ba-Ba's condo again, and we made a pleasant side trip, leaving the interstate to instead drive along the coastline.

Right there at Flagler Beach, we saw this unusual sight - a Pirate House!  We looked it up, and it is actually called "Pirate House," for lack of a better name.  I believe Master Gibbs was correct when declaring that "You know, for all that pirates are clever clogs, we are an unimaginative lot when it comes to naming things."

We didn't know the purpose of this house, but we have no problem with it.  This is America, and if you want to have pirates all over your house, and your HOA doesn't have any ruling about having pirates all over your house, then you should be able to put pirates all over your house.  It's a beautiful view there at Flagler Beach, and these pirates were enjoying the sight of the ocean, and perhaps longing to head out to sea for a good bit of honest pirating.

Sadly, further down the road was a nightmare called Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach.  Evidently, the college crowd has pounced upon Labor Day weekend, and pirated the roads away from everyone.  It took about a half-hour to go a half mile, until we were able to get off that main road there.  Two lanes on either side, and both filled with cruisers, loud rap music, and basically everything we didn't need after being on the road for so long.  To think that most of these drivers and passengers were actually enjoying sitting in their cars stuck in traffic like this.  Thankfully, we moved inland to that back road and were able to escape that mess.

We arrived eventually, and we're glad to be here.  Mommy was able to talk to Ba-Ba on the phone.  He's weak, tired, and in pain, but he's glad we're here with Nana.  Madison and Nana were watching "Wheel of Fortune," a ballgame on television, and the fireworks outside on the beach too.  I'm ready for bed though - it was a long day of driving.  We had no traffic except for Daytona and Henry County of course.  We stopped in Cordele as always, and the rest area in Osceola National Forest, which is nicely kept.  Otherwise, it was a smooth journey, and we're grateful for that.  But again, I'm pretty wiped out, pretty tired.  It's time to read, and get some shut-eye...
