The Candy Corn Club

We're making adjustments and preparations for the return to KidPak this weekend, this despite all else that is going on, and you can see one minor thing we've done with the set above.  It's sort of a quick thing, not a full scale set, but at least an acknowledgment of a new thing going on.  We only recently determined that we'd try to do something on the stage, and so our thinking was that we couldn't have the "Northern Lights" series stage still up there when everyone comes back.  That was the same set we've had on the stage since back in February, and really these snowy walls were on this set since November of last year.  So this completely ginormous and honestly mundane looking "kp" is up there now, this big grey wall that establishes that yes, amongst these snowy mountains is a mysterious wall that has the letters "kp" on it.  I'm working on a skit Sunday, and it'll feature cowboys, as our new series that starts this weekend is "Trailblazers."  I'm not sure how that fits in with the set, and honestly, it's not too much of a worry at this point.  Our primary focus is this sort of stuff here:

We've got all kinds of directional signs and stickers on the floor and places to take temperatures and so on, and it's going to be a rather interesting morning for children's services. We'll do the best we can, the assumption being we'll have a great deal of grace to extend and hopefully a great deal of grace received.  I believe everyone is going to be fine, happy to simply be back in church at all, and willing to do whatever it takes to be at church worshipping together.  Gradually, the restrictions will fade, and we'll be where we once were.

So we started a Candy Corn Club today.  Currently there are five members.  The thinking was that there are plenty of people here at KidPak who do not like candy corn, whereas there are a few of us that clearly do.  And then there is a faction of those candy corn people (all of them) that feel obliged to make vampire teeth out of said candy corn.  This you can see me doing above as a demonstration, however Mommy is probably the most famous member to do this with the candy corn.  She's done this every single year, time after time, showing her fangs to us as she nibbles on a few pieces of candy corn.  So far, our club is just five members, and yes, Madison is also now a member, so there are three family members here.  But we've agreed to meet in private and have a personal stash of candy corn this season, for members only of course.  We may even have a weekly publication, Candy Corn Weekly, one that one of our members will contribute to, writing important articles about how candy corn is important and so on.  Pastor Lance is not a member, simply because he doesn't like candy corn.  This is his loss, as he'll be out on all the private gatherings and going-ons of the Candy Corn Club.  Soon, we'll have special membership cards and secret handshakes.  It's a big deal.

Mommy looks good here, and you can I'm at Edge ATA as I speak with her.  Madison was at taekwondo tonight, swirling nunchucks and working hard towards that next belt.  Meanwhile, I've been talking with Mommy, something I've been doing all the day through.  Today was a better day, but everything is so moment by moment, and it is all very sad and very serious.

Tonight, we called her again on the screen and Nana was there too.  We read together, with me reading another chapter from "The Wizard of Oz," this time to Nana as well.  We read from our devotional, and we prayed together as well.  Mommy was tired, as was Nana.  Neither are sleeping so well.   We're still praying for a miracle.
