Stormtroopers and Mara Jade

Madison spent a little time today doing some artwork, working on drawing various people - no one in particular, but she was drawing people and characters and faces, and all of this without looking at anything for guidance.  The end result was pretty nice, actually.

She had a great day at school, with lots of great grades showing up online all at the same time.  I believe she has all A's at this point, and she was working hard all along on this.  Tonight, she worked hard again, this time finishing up that Georgia Piedmont brochure that she's been laboring on for the past several days.  She said her teacher told her this was already an "A" effort, but tonight she wanted to add a bit more to it, finishing it up as much as she could.  She also did some studying tonight for an algebra test she has, or at least a quiz.  Before that, there was a trip to taekwondo for regular class, and this one was quite full tonight.  Madison's high kick is getting pretty high lately, and she's certainly a lot more polished than she has ever been with her form.  This is only natural though, as she's right here on the final stretch of the colorful belt system, working towards that important black belt that she hopes to have next spring.

We were planning the return of KidPak today, and this was a somewhat informal meeting, but it was super productive.  We got the idea of meeting in the auditorium and meeting in classrooms, somewhat like we did on Wednesday nights, but a little different than usual.  To begin with, our KidPak online services will be shown on our screens in the classrooms, but we'll still strive to have new skits and videos each week, making KidPak a place kids will want to come to each weekend.  We start off with "Trailblazers," and that should be fun!

Tonight we finished our book, "Allegiance," and it was a good one. No doubt Madison will want to go on to read "Choices of One" next, but this one was a great look at some decent Stormtrooper fellows, the origins of the 501st who went rogue to go on some adventures of their own.  Along the journey, they meet up with Mara Jade, and that sort of seals the deal for Madison.  But there's also Leia, Luke, Han and Chewbacca, and a few appearances by a very menacing Darth Vader.  The scene pictured above was one of the many bits of adventure featured in this story, something to look forward to each night.

I believe we'll read "The Wizard of Oz" next, as that's Mommy's request, and a neat look back at the original story.  That may lead to other Oz adventures, but there's still plenty of other things to read out there.  Madison is reading a Star Wars book of her own, plugging away at "Lost Stars" again, still a pretty good ways into that book for a third time.

We read from our devotional and we said our prayers tonight.  Mommy spent the day making all kinds of tasty things for lunch and dinner.  It was Taco Tuesday, so there were tacos, but also on top of that was a salsa she made using tomatoes from our garden, along with plenty of other ingredients.  It is so delicious!

We went to bed on time tonight, and got to sleep rather quickly.  We did a lot of working and planning today, and there's much to look forward to in the coming weeks.
