Madison did her Fund Run today, an event designed to raise money. Kids get sponsored to make a certain amount for every lap they complete on the track, and they have about fifteen minutes to do their best. Mommy and Daddy gave a certain amount, just to get the t-shirt. Madison has a collection of these t-shirts at home from over the years, and got this new tie die shirt this week.
Here she is, just before doing her run, hanging out with a few others in the shade. It was a warm day today, at least it was for Daddy, who was not wearing shorts, but rather dressed up while marching around getting pictures for the yearbook.
Teachers positioned themselves around the track, and for every lap, each student got a mark on a sticker put on her back. By the end of this run, she had ten marks. Eight laps on the track equals one mile, so by the end of her time, she had run a mile and a quarter. Great job, Madison!
Anyway, she did really well this afternoon, and had a lot of fun with her friends. Tomorrow, she'll do some more running, this time with an obstacle course involved!
Tonight she had ballet and jazz - it was her long night. She enjoyed it though. Daddy wrapped up Sunday's LEGO service, and we spent a good amount of time preparing for the next series, the one we'll call "Get a Clue." We have some great plans beyond the services, and the services themselves should be great as well. Less than two weeks to go!
Tonight we watched Disney's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" before bed, and just to keep the theme going, we read a few October-themed books, including one with Pinkalicious, and another one about a square pumpkin named Spookley, who saved all the pumpkins in the patch, except for three. Those were lost at sea. Or perhaps found by scuba divers, who carved them underwater.
This might be a bucket list item here. Wouldn't this be crazy to do? Okay, maybe not. But we'll be carving pumpkins soon enough, and doing it above sea level at our house. Madison is looking forward to that day very much, as are Mommy and Daddy. It's going to be great.
But today was nice too. Madison ran a mile, and did such a great job. We have so many great days going on now, and many great days ahead of us. We love this time of year!
