There was a lot going on today at Chestatee Elementary, which starts each day with the morning news. This morning's news featured Madison and the rest of the new club that she's just joined, one called "Live to Give." You can see her posed above with the host teacher, holding up a sign that shows the goals for the the club - they want to see 1,000 letters to members of our armed forces, each one written by a student (or adult). It's a simple letter of gratitude submitted, multiplied by 1,000, of course.
Madison's role was limited, as were all the other kids in the group. She held the sign up as the teacher spoke, and then came her big line:
"Live to give!" It was a neat little moment. Daddy was there as a yearbook photographer, although not in the tiny little room where they film all of this live. The news crew has anchor people, a teleprompter person, a camera operator, and guest people who do the Pledge of Allegiance together. It's pretty fun!
The day at Chestatee Elementary didn't stop there for Mommy and Daddy though! We came back around lunch time, first to bring Madison a pizza. That was very much appreciated! Lunch together was nice, seated on the stage, talking about school and of course all we're looking forward to upcoming. It's a busy season!
Daddy took some pictures at recess for the yearbook, and after that, we met Madison in the library for the Book Fair!
This has been a great tradition year after year. You can see Madison is happy because she has a "Descendants 2" novelization, and another book that she loves so much that she's read it twice already, "Ghosts." This is fun. You want to get so many books though, and there's just only so much in the budget, right? At least there are plenty of good ideas for Christmas upcoming. She just might get her own library at Christmas time!
Madison has been testing a lot lately, all in preparation to decide placement for the gifted program next year and possibly beyond. It's a lot of testing - we're talking hours. But she's been a good trooper, and things like the Eagle Dash and the Book Fair help break up the time well.
Today was Taco Tuesday, followed by piano class, where the kids were sharing more information about themselves, and playing their own compositions. Madison in practice has been sounding much more fluid on the piano, quicker to nail notes for the first time. She's sounding great. Her practice is paying off!
It was humid outside today, one degree shy of the record heat they say. We were indoors for most of the day, but hopefully the weather will return to something more fall like soon enough. We still have yet to make our pumpkin trip, or our journey up into the mountains to see the change of leaves and so forth.
One thing we are doing no matter what is watching our October movies and shows: today we were watching a few more episodes of "The Addams Family." Madison likes the show, and I think she'll love the movies too. And she's game for dressing up like Wednesday Addams soon. Mommy and Madison ordered a costume for her, which should be here soon - maybe Wednesday! I think she's planning on wearing it to the play this upcoming weekend. Can't wait for that!
Tonight, we continued with Nancy Drew and this suspicious Aborn couple. We'll see what's going on with them soon enough. Clues are lining up. Speaking of clues lining up, we're still moving forward with our new series, "Get a Clue." Daddy spent a lot of time with that today, and it's coming along. Only a few days to go until we start that series! Like I said, busy season.
