It's the first day of the year! Here we go with another year, and by faith, we feel this one is going to be a good one. Not that last year wasn't, of course. We're blessed and highly favored, and started the year with a nice, pleasant day of rest and time spent with family. We also had a tea party!
Madison tried her first real tea today, probably after seeing everyone with this nice tea set out. See the new tea cozy there? That's from Christmas, a gift to Mommy from that store we just visited. And that bit of yarn around Nana was a project we were working on all day, getting all the knots out of these two rolls of yarn. Madison saw the tea going out, and decided that yes, today would be the day she tried herself some proper tea.
And she really liked it. She took hers with two lumps of sugar and some cream, and was all smiles during the thing. It's cold outside, so a hot cup of tea is the sort of thing that hits the spot!
The rest of New Year's Day was spent hanging out here, mostly. Although we did make a trip out to Texas Roadhouse for a nice steak dinner. Seriously, we have never had a bad steak there. This location has been so good to us, and Madison loves going to eat some peanuts. It was packed, but we called ahead and got right in as always. When we were done, we pretty much went straight home - that was our only outing of the day.
The rest of the day featured tauntaun races, and finishing that Neverland puzzle. That was a team effort, and the hope is to keep the finished product and maybe even frame it!
It was a nice day overall, one spent together just talking, unknotting yarn, having tea, and staying indoors. The weather has turned chilly, appropriate for January. The sun is shining though, and that just confirms what we're all thinking inside: it's going to be a great year.
