Tonight, Madison went to the second wedding she's been to, the marriage of Montaega Harrison and Ensley Martin.
We'll have some better pictures in time, as Daddy forgot his camera and there were a few pictures of Madison taken by some others over the course of the night. The wedding was at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, which for a moment had a ton of Free Chapel folks inside. The weather was cold, and it was dark outside, but the inside was full of light and warmth, and there was a great deal of joy to be shared. The service was nice, and as we would steal glances at Madison, we saw her completely focused on every detail of the ceremony.
Afterwards, we went to a larger room for the celebration. Of course, most of the folks here were fasting, which was diabolically clever for those two who got married. I mean, the only thing they really had to invest in were the peanuts, fruit, fruit juice, and water! Seriously though, it was nice afterwards, and of course there was dancing. Madison wanted to dance, although she was shy about it. Daddy took her out to the dance area, and we did a few spins for fun.
After the wedding, we dropped by McDonald's to get something for Madison, but soon made our way home. It was late, but not so late as to not be able to read the final few chapters of the latest Jack Sparrow book, "Dance of the Hours." And once again, there's a twist at the end, a cliffhanger that is not to be trifled with. We'll see what happens in the next book, whenever we find it - the thing is not at our local library!
This morning on the way to school, the made up story honored the birthday of Elvis, as the Ahsoka and her padawans took a trip to Graceland to learn an important aspect of being a jedi. Two girls were fighting over a teddy bear, so Elvis told them to just rip the thing in half, and give each a half. The real owner said, "No! Don't do that! Just let her have it." And thus, Elvis knew who the real owner was. The lesson Elvis taught the padawans is that real love is willing to sacrifice for others. Madison liked hearing it, thank-you-very-much.
Did you know that today was a report card day? We didn't have a clue either, so don't panic. It just came out of the blue, and sure enough there it was. This is the end of the second quarter. Which makes no sense, as we just started up again. Regardless, there was this piece of paper in front of us, and sure enough, Madison has once again done really well. She's above and beyond in certain areas, which is great to see. With speech and comprehension, of course there are some issues. But we still have a few quarters left, and honestly, we see a whole lot of improvement here. She's so confident too, and that's such a thrilling thing to see for us as parents.
So here we go, starting off our weekend with a wedding, and then a concert, and maybe something on Sunday. We'll see how everyone feels by then, but one thing is for sure: it'll be a great weekend!
