Madison had her first visit to the hospital today, right after piano of course. She came in to see Mommy, who is doing quite well actually. Mommy looked vibrant this morning, talking long walks down the hallway as instructed, her face full of color. We've gotten so many well wishers and visitors as of late - Aunt Shain and the cousins, as well as Nana and Ye-Ye. Of course, Ba-Ba and Nana came by as well, right after their trip to Goodwill (it is Senior Discount Day)!
But Madison's visit was special. She was very sad to go, but she did get to spend a bit of time here. She used a coloring book that Camille had given her in a gift basket left in the hospital room. And... she did her homework here. Yes, even homework has to get done somewhere, so why not in the hospital room?
Tonight before bed, we Skyped Madison at home, and read to her the next few chapters in the Jack Sparrow book we've been reading. We said our prayers together and wished her a good night.
Daddy actually was able to pick her up from school today, as Nana and Ba-Ba came by to take that shift with Mommy at the hospital. Not that Mommy needs anyone at the moment. She does a lot of resting, which is only natural, and also a result of the pain medication she's been taking. She takes less and less of it, which is a good sign. Today, she came off her IV, and was sitting reading all the great messages written to her from friends and family. E-mails and messages on social networks have been pouring in, and it is very encouraging.
Tomorrow, we'll try a more solid food, and the visits from Dr. Lewis have been very encouraging - she's recovering really fast. This has been such a great moment for us, a happy moment indeed. We watched the sunrise this morning from our room. It faces due east, just as the one does at Satellite Beach.
From that moment on, lots of friends have been visiting from the church, and some who even work here. Flowers have been delivered as well, some from the church and staff.
It's been a good day here. Piano went well, with Madison doing very good with what she was assigned last week. The new assignments will get more and more complicated, with two hands flying over the keyboard. But she's keeping up well, despite Daddy's jaw dropping at the little dance her fingers have to do in order to keep each note right.
Anyway, it was another good day. So good, in fact, that we may go home early. We'll see how that goes, but Mommy's recovery is going exceptionally well!
