Color Run '15

Because of some donations from Mommy and Daddy, Madison got the privilege of running around on the track in a new t-shirt, while a bunch of adults hurled lots of ink at her.  Yes, this is something the kids look forward to each year, the "Color Run."  They put on their goggles and hold their breath as they run by the stations of adults assigned to hurl colors at the kids.  By the end of the track, of course, the children are covered with different streaks of color.  They even get a handful at the end, and on the count of three, about a hundred kids throw clouds of color into the air, watching it get caught in the wind, drifting back downward on everyone.  Yes, it's a good idea to wear something you don't mind getting a bit more colorful this day.

Daddy came by to catch the action.  Madison was excited, and the weather was just wonderful.  And then it was time to head back to the office - the DIVINE conference continues, and there's a lot of stuff going on at the church.

But it was much later arriving at the church this time.  The Color Run was after lunch, and before that we had two visits to make.  The first visit was the one with Dr. Lewis, our follow-up appointment after the surgery.  Here we learned for the first time that Mommy had 14" of her intestines cut out.  We knew there was re-sectioning involved, but we had no idea it was that much.  Again, we're still grateful that it all worked out so well.  Her healing has been slow, and her days have been sleepy - but that's all the way it is, and will continue to be as she gets better and better.  Part of it is getting the medication out of the system from the surgery, apparently.  Mommy spends a lot of time sleeping lately, but that's all completely normal.  More good news today:  she can start taking baths again.  The stitches look good as well - she'll be fine in a few weeks, almost 100% again.

The other visit was a sadder one.  We were there at the hospital anyway, and we visited someone who doesn't have that much time left.  Daddy's friend Alan from high school - his mother has been battling cancer and more, so Mommy and Daddy dropped by to pay a visit.  The news is that she may not make it another week, which is extremely upsetting.  Daddy used to go over her house all the time to visit Alan, where she'd cook us something nice and always make everyone feel so welcome.  She was solid, always looking so much younger than she really was - until this morning.

Anyway, that put a somber note on things.  Daddy went to work to help with the conference, and Mommy went home to nap.  She got up just in time for Madison, who was working on her piano when she got home, and doing a bit of other work as well.  It was a fun day though.  She's doing all kinds of artwork lately - we'll have to show you the fish she's been drawing lately.  And other paintings as well - she's been really creative with her works.  And yes, there's the new t-shirt too - it's also nice and colorful!
