Senior Prom

Well, here we are at Maddie's Senior Prom!  Today was such a full, rich sort of day, and it started out with the Easter Production of course, given that today is Good Friday.  But the story of the day for Maddie is her Senior Prom, and we'll start there of course.  The weather was gorgeous outside, and there was a little discussion about where to take some photos of her and her friend Maddie just prior to the dance, but the wonderful thing was that God arranged for these flowers to bloom so beautifully in front of our house, and so full and colorful too.  We took some pictures here at the house, and that was all we needed!

Occasionally when I grab the camera, Maddie has it left on "manual" to use for indoor lighting at KidPak.  That being said, the early shots were super overexposed.  Still, they turned out kind of interesting!

So her day was prepping and getting ready for the big dance.  She took the day off, and was all ready to go when I got home.  And where was I?  Well, today is Good Friday, and we had that big production at the church.  Mom and I were there getting costuming ready, and dealing with blood issues - I got a covering for the resurrection garments and we were getting laundry done over and over again with the shroud and the diapers and the Romans' costuming.  Lots of blood!  There are so many tiny issues and things to be done with a production of this scale, and so many tasks to cover.  But it all turned out really well today.  I was a writer for the script (along with Lance, Donna and Camille), and it's truly a surreal honor.  Here are some photos from today's service, a few from backstage and more from the church photographers capturing the service itself:

Mom is working real hard on this, and she was doing so tonight too - getting things ready for tonight's service. So she was at the Gainesville campus, and meanwhile, I was off to Dawsonville as chauffeur.  Maddie and Maddie went to grab a bite to eat first, going to Kani House.

That was nice.  Afterwards, we drove off to our destination where the prom was located - the Revere Venue, located somewhere between Dawsonville and Ellijay.  Translation:  middle of nowhere, and far away.  It's a nice place though!  Maddie and Maddie thought the exterior grounds were really nice, whereas the interior of last year's prom was better inside.  They both had their advantages, but tonight's prom was really great.  She had such a good time with her friends.  They took a lot of pictures, danced, ate some food - pudding - and just had a really pleasant time.  And the weather outside was gorgeous.  It was a perfect prom night, and she looked so wonderful.  She had an unforgettable time and I was so happy for her.  Here are some of the pictures she took tonight at her senior prom:

So meanwhile... I was stuck in the middle of nowhere.  I couldn't get back to the church to help Mom and be back to get Maddie from the prom.  So... I brought a book and drove over to Ellijay to do some reading in a random grocery store parking lot, but I also got to see a place listed on Roadside America, this fun barbecue restaurant with a "Hill of Fame." Poole's Barbecue is a place with all these painted pigs and pig decorations all around, just a fantastic look for a restaurant of this sort.  It was a lot of folk art, and looked like a place we'll have to eat at when we come back around this place in the fall.  Take a look at some pictures I snapped tonight.

Yeah, so there was the day.  I'm snapping pictures of barbecue pigs while at the same time Mom is costuming a full cast for a completely full church watching a massive Easter production while at the same time Maddie is at her senior prom.  What a day!
