This morning Maddie rose and was greeted by Jingle Bells the elf, who had a very nice gift indeed! Just right for the week of midterms, a few Starbucks drinks! She was actually able to snatch one from beneath the tree this morning and take it with her to lunch. Of course, it's a half-day today, pretty much, as Maddie is just there for testing. She had her forensics test, and she got a 95 on it, pretty much sealing her final grade as an A. She's done well on midterms thus far, with just one day left and the least fun tests being tomorrow. I was in car line this afternoon early, and Maddie was there to greet me with one of her creations from the ceramics class - a mushroom she's been working on this semester. Sort of an "Alice in Wonderland" theme going on, isn't there? Count that in with the movies I want to see again soon. I've been working on a 2024 list once the Christmas movies are over with. Speaking of which, Mom and I were watching "The Man Who Invented Christmas" today, and doing a bunch of Christmas-related things as well. We're pretty wiped out though, understandably.
Tonight Maddie went to the last taekwondo of the year, the last one before Christmas. Because you can't miss that. She was working on flips and aerial kicks and rolls, and just training within a more relaxed atmosphere amongst friends. It was pretty chill there.
One thing we did tonight to celebrate the season was have a Tokyo Christmas, or at least what many people in Tokyo think of doing when celebrating Christmas. I heard about this a few years ago, and thought it was hilarious. I've been thinking of doing it one December ever since. We dropped by KFC and got ourselves a bucket of chicken, and mashed potatoes and gravy and that legendary coleslaw as well. It was Maddie's first KFC experience, and given that it was Kentucky Fried Chicken, we had to get some grilled chicken for Mom as well, but the three of us sat there and enjoyed a hearty meal, original flavor. We enjoyed it, and it was on our "bucket list" so to speak. See what I did there? Bucket? Anyway, that was nice, and Maddie was off to study for her last mid-terms after that while Mom and I watched the musical version of "Scrooge." Earlier in the day, while doing some Christmas chores we were watching "The Preacher's Wife," so it was sort of a Christmas movie marathon type of day.
We closed out our night with reading, and with prayer. And some sound sleeping. We're still exhausted!
