The Quest Begins

So we were off and going on our Quest this morning, with two services in which everything was just peachy!  Seriously, that second service was so absolutely perfect, from videos to the drama to the message we shared about the power of a name.

You can see our cast up there, although we'll be adding a few next week as the story progresses.  Madison enjoyed it, enjoyed the jokes and is suddenly into the whole adventure mode, big time.  Some of the material written for the drama - it was written in 2006, performed pretty much at the same time Madison was just born.  She's never seen this series, so it's suddenly got a special place, and an obligation to make sure everything is just perfect.  We usually have that, of course.  But there's something about a series that Madison has never seen before.

And just to keep with the theme, guess what we saw in the parking lot of the church on the way to the car?

Yesterday, Madison and Mommy spotted a deer just standing there near the children's playground.  But that probably got a nicer reaction than the snake.  Daddy explained the rules about snakes, and we just watched him slither off, unbothered about us.  Still, it's kind of crazy that we are doing an Indiana Jones series, and there it is, a snake.  I mean, I haven't seen a snake in the wild in quite some time.  "Snakes.  Why'd it have to be snakes?"

Anyway, we continued the theme at home.  Yes, there were video games.  We weren't playing LEGO Indiana Jones today though - instead, Daddy introduced Madison to Lara Croft.  We played a game that used two players, cooperating to get through ancient temples with all sorts of bad guys coming at you.  Lots of puzzles and traps add to the fun, and there you have it:  Madison is playing a Tomb Raider game.

We also watched "Treasure Buddies" tonight, along with a huge thing of popcorn.  This is part of the talking dog movie series, which involve five dogs on various adventures.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be - we go this from the library because it matches the theme.  And Madison enjoyed watching it.  Of course, she's supposed to be part of that target audience, but Mommy and Daddy didn't mind sitting with her a little too.

Tonight before bed, we started reading "Emperor Pickleteen Rides the Bus," the final book in the "Origami Yoda" series.  As usual, Mommy, Madison and Daddy sat together as Daddy read a few chapters of the book - it's been a fun series to read through, with a few laugh-out-loud moments for all of us.  It's been a neat family bonding time, actually.  We've grown to like the characters a lot - I think the author did a great job with this series, although there have been a few bits of dialogue to edit somewhat.

So it's late, and it's time to catch up on some sleep.  Tomorrow, we sleep in.  That's the good news.  Even better news is that Madison has ballet camp tomorrow at 12:30.  She's in for another great week of camp activities.  There are other things coming up this week too, but you'll just have to wait and see what those are.  It's going to be an adventure!
