Here above is a picture from my family's history, recently discovered thanks to the internet. Mommy discovered this gem of a photo. Yes, it seems Madison has an ancestor who had an ice cream shop, and a top secret formula for root beer. According to records, it was a very popular beverage, one that larger manufacturers were willing to pay good money for - just to get the secret recipe. Yet he insisted that his secret would die when as he did. And so it did. And a whole lot of good that did everybody, eh? He buried his treasure and didn't leave a map to find it! No more special root beer, and from a family standpoint, no money. If ever there was a time machine invented, I think we should probably go back to the turn of the century (1900), and slap some sense into this guy. Then, we'd return to the current timeline and find ourselves all wealthy, just like in "Back to the Future!"
To quote Jack Skellington, "Oh well." There's no sense crying over spilt root beer. Although Nana and Daddy have been lamenting over the loss of this recently discovered treasure.
Speaking of buried treasures, today was a day to play with my birthday toys - so Mommy and Daddy watched the latest "Pirates" movie on Blu-Ray tonight. This was one treasure we could have access to! As an interesting twist, there's this new feature called "second screen" which we started to try out. We'll finish that one later, but it's pretty neat: you sync the computer with the movie, and all sorts of extras pop up in time with the scenes in the movie. Technology today is amazing!
Today Daddy dropped off and picked up Madison from school. It was quite cold outside this morning, so we were thankful to have the car in the garage for the night. Yes, we were munching on Halloween candy today - there is so much of it! Now there's a treasure we can use. I don't think we'll be burying that anywhere.
Back to school: Daddy got to see a lot of the artwork Madison has been doing at school. Here's an example - just one - of something she's been doing. The walls were covered with children's work.
It's of the fall leaves, obviously. And maybe something else - but I don't know. Maybe a blackish grey slug? I'm just kidding. What I do know is that this fall has been spectacular with the colors of the leaves. It has been a treasure for all of us to see for the past few weeks. Just to give you an example, here is the view from our front porch of our house:
Isn't it wonderful? There is something very special about the colors of fall. Or, as Pocahontas likes to call it, the "colors of the wind." Of course, Madison was dressed up as Pocahontas last night. But soon enough we'll be watching that movie of the same name - it's nearly Thanksgiving, and time to plug that one in once again. And, perhaps, we'll run into Pocahontas herself in a few weeks. You never know! In just a few weeks we'll be at Disney again with Madison, which will be a moment - of course - that we'll all treasure.
"Did everyone see that? Because I will *not* be doing it again."
