This afternoon we went to see a spectacular stage version of "The Wizard of Oz." It's one of those stories you have memorized, one of those movies that you know all the lines and all the lyrics to, and yet this version was so fresh and fun. The costumes and performances and that set - all of it worked together to create a really faithful and wonderful version of the story we all know and love. Maddie, Mom and I sat in our season pass seats, those seats up at the front of the balcony there.

We really enjoyed this one. The ride down was easy, and we got to our seats without any problems, nice and early. At intermission, I usually head out there to get Mom some of those gluten-free chips she likes and a water - and Maddie gets this big ol' pretzel. This cast was fantastic, and the kids playing the Munchkins were outstanding. And the dog that played Toto was so well-trained. Needless to say, we all enjoyed it very much!

We got there about an hour early, and you just never know with Atlanta traffic what you'll get. But it was all okay - the weather was gorgeous outside, something like 75 degrees. They actually had ice skating out there at the park, which was wild to think of. But we sat on a bench for a while just watching the families skate, picnic, or just run around and play on the lawn. It was a really pleasant and restful sort of thing. And the wooden houses on display there are pretty uniquely painted, all of them designed by local organizations and churches. It was nice to walk around and have a seat there.
