KidPak's Christmas Ugly Sweater Day

Before church this morning, Maddie was getting some free gifts from the Guardians LEGO advent calendar, and as you can see above Santa Buc-ee had something else for her:  what could it be wrapped up there?

Ah!  A nail file, complete with the Buc-ee's logo on it.  Yes, this has been a Very Merry Buc-ee's Christmas here.  Oh, and speaking of which, guess what today is also the deadline for?

It's the Suno Christmas Carol Competition!  Those of us involved have been submitting our AI songs, and this afternoon Mom and I were listening to pretty much all of them, cracking up at some, and getting tears in our eyes at others.  We have some talented writers here and it'll be lots of fun talking about these in a few days.  The segue here was that one song had an unexpected Buc-ee's twist in it, something that cracked us up of course.

So we did have church this morning of course.  One great moment at service was between services where we were handing out our yearly KidPak ornament to everyone.  We've been following the Fruit of the Spirit here, and this year's fruit was kindness.  So we have a great new ornament, and yes, I already have it on the tree!

Christmas is in the air, big time.  It's the first December Sunday, and we're in overdrive today.  Mom was spending a lot of time getting together costumes for the church's entry in the Green Street Parade today, a living Nativity with Wise Men, the Holy Family, shepherds, animal costumes, but also live animals like a camel!  Also going on today was the Christmas kids choir practice, which just gets you in the spirit quite a bit!

Down at KidPak, we were having our Christmas Ugly Sweater Day!  We had a skit featuring some ugly sweaters, and all our volunteers and staff had them on.  Lots of kids too!  Maddie got some great pictures of the service this morning.

We had a restful day after all that.  Cold and yucky weather outside, but I still walked along on the treadmill.  I started "Home Alone 5" today, the one known as "The Holiday Heist."  I haven't seen this one before, so we'll see how it goes, but thus far it's already better than the previous one, though that bar is pretty low.

The front porch looks nice now, some subtle lighting out there.  It's beautiful indoors.  We watched "Elf" tonight, and got our reading of "Hogfather" in before prayers and bedtime.  It's an earlier morning tomorrow, so we hit the beds a bit earlier tonight. But it's been a good, good day.
