35mm

Maddie's favorite class right now is probably her photography class.  She's learning about 35 mm film, learning about developing it and all the processes involved that we used to endure "back in the day."  It doesn't seem like too long ago that I was in a photo lab.  It was one of my first jobs, and of course in the photo lab it was a lot easier with the one machine to run the undeveloped film through.  In college, I was in the dark room quite a bit.  I remember blasting 99X on the radio while dipping the different sheets of paper in the processing trays, experimenting with contrast and dodging and all of that.  Maddie's doing much of the same thing now - you can see above the different still life arrangements that she has there, and of course the 35mm camera too.  She's really having a great time with this.

It's Monday, and it's Veteran's Day.  I was walking this morning, this whole month keeping the treadmill on a setting where I can walk and run while watching various Christmas specials on the television downstairs.  I'm seeing some old obscure stuff that I don't see that much, including this one today about Opus from Bloom County and his wish for wings that work.  Penguins wings apparently don't work, or so he thinks.  It's a nice little special.  I've got a Darkwing Duck Christmas special upcoming, and another Goof Troop special too.  Lots of good old stuff to watch - including Robbie the Reindeer and Abbott and Costello's hourlong Colgate Special.  Meanwhile, I'm exercising on the treadmill a good bit.

Maddie and I were getting groceries tonight after taekwondo, the usual sort of activity on Monday nights.  Quite a bit of activity tonight.  Maddie's working towards her next testing, and she's still working with Team Edge towards the performance in December too.  All is well.  Grocery shopping was pretty quick afterwards, with us picking up some of the basics, although I was tempted to pick up the Advent Calendar of Cheese.  How random is that?  There's also the usual Hot Sauce Advent Calendar, but we said not that this year.

It was a good day - we closed it out with a Christmas movie, and we read as well.  Maddie had some homework, but we spent some time together tonight hanging out.  I got the last Christmas tree up, and we'll get the rest of the decorations up on it through the rest of the week.  We've still got some halls to deck, but we're doing well!
