Maddie had her taekwondo classes today, or at least the one class along with the other class that she helps with instructors. It's a good arrangement, one she enjoys. She likes helping out the younger ones, though obviously there are a few that can be somewhat frustrating. But Maddie is learning how to deal with those and others, sometimes taking good advice and sometimes learning the hard way. Her leadership class has her continuing to use the kamas, which are a pretty nifty-looking weapon of course. I would love to get her some real kamas at some point. I'd also like for spell-check to realize that kamas is a real word, because it keeps changing my text from "kamas" to "mamas." Which would make for an interesting description of a night of taekwondo:
"The students picked up their mamas and twirled them around. One of the younger students dropped his mama by accident, which made a loud noise upon hitting the ground. But it's nothing to be terribly embarrassed about because everyone drops his or her mama from time to time. Even the best of students will be swinging his or her mama around, or maybe even two mamas at the same time, when unexpectedly there's a lost grip and the next thing you know, there's suddenly a mama or two flying across the studio!"
Yes, that one letter does make quite a bit of difference! Anyway, it was a quiet day. Lots of work being done towards Christmas, and towards our November series. It should be a lot of fun though, a return to Pilgrims and Indians, and a turkey too. We've had that turkey costume for years and years, and Mom keeps repairing it each year - it's really holding together nicely after all this time and abuse!
Speaking of abuse, my arms are in terrible shape. There's a golf-ball sized "thing" inside my elbow, a bruise of sorts, and my upper arms literally crack and seem unable to lift things - or even themselves - at particular angles. I have no idea what's going on, but it's annoying.
Maddie had her small group again tonight, and that's still going. Camille was talking about how the girls just start talking, and of course at times there's focus to conversation with Camille's guidance. But on the whole, it's just a time to share and be friends with one another. It's a good thing.
While small groups were going on, it was time to do our Hallmark Christmas movie theme! We watched "Single Santa Seeking Mrs. Claus." Or at least I think that's the title? Anyway, it sort of followed one of the themes of "The Santa Clause 2," and of course "The Santa Clause 2" did it much better. But this was just one of the Hallmark movies I got for Mom last year, with the hopes that we'd have time to sit and watch something like that together on the couch. Of course, Nana is with us all the time. All the time. And she's right there on the couch with us for a nice romantic movie. But you know, we make due the best we can. And Mom enjoyed the movie for what it was, as did I, and we'll be spending more time this month watching a few of these types of movies, which should be kind of fun actually. It's something new, and everyone else seems to like them, as they literally make hundreds of them. So we'll select some to check out, interspersing them with the other Christmas favorites as we march towards the big holiday. Who knows? We may find a few that we want to revisit!
I'm not sure how Maddie will feel about these movies, but I know there's at least one out there with a star from "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." in it, so she may want to tune in to see how that one is.
Anyway, tonight we read from the Discworld, and we said our prayers afterwards. And after that, bed time. It was a good day today.
Maddie's pov:
In taekwondo, I was helping the intermediate class. I didn't spar any of the kids in that class since there was an even amount of people there. Mia and Lennox were there helping out as well. They usually help out with me. After the intermediate class was my leadership class, in which Mia and Lennox follow me there too since they do leadership. We practiced one of the combos we learned and had a competition with them. After leadership class, we went home and I jumped onto my small group with Camille. We were just talking a lot.
