It was a water balloon dodgeball game. Or, at least what the logo advertised.
In fact, I'm not sure there was a game at all, as most games have "rules" and so on. This was just an all-out water balloon battle, and it was glorious - if not occasionally painful - fun. Maddie got hit a few times when a certain guy chose to throw a ninety mph fastball a little too inside to the plate. But otherwise, it was a super fun night, with a good message and of course the free food that comes along with youth.
The forecast today was hot, and there was rain everywhere. We got rain a few times, and tonight the rain was the thundery sort of rain with the night skies lighting up all around. It was threatening to the youth event, but never materialized, so the game went on to everyone's delight.
It was a decent day today. Nana and I were out grocery shopping, because if you don't give her something to do, she'll make everyone sadder. So we went out and caught up on what little groceries we have left, which is not much, because we seem to have to go grocery shopping a lot lately to keep her busy. Besides, not everything is at the grocery store lately, and sometimes there are return trips necessary. Supply chain issues, I think. Our economy is still in this hazy slightly worrisome state, and we're all collectively hoping for the best while fearing the worst. Inflation is supposedly the worst it has been since the 70's, and that's affecting all of us. Coincidentally though, we're not going anywhere in this house - or at least not that far. We long to, desperately, but perhaps that's what is best at the moment. Doesn't mean we like it, but for the time being, our vacation is to the grocery store! Maybe they have post cards there.
Anyway, we read tonight from our story, already pulling us along of course. It's a great read. And we said our prayers afterwards. We've been okay these past few years, despite being under quarantine. We've had enough food, and a nice place to live, a good school to go to, and a great church to be at, one with lots and lots of water balloons.
