Back on the Cat Bus

Maddie and I continued a mini-Miyazaki festival today by watching "My Neighbor Totoro," which is of course one of our favorites.  It was great to just have the time to sit and watch this classic with so many wonderfully creative visuals - like the cat bus, or the ネコバス as they say in Japan.  Which I think is pronounced Nekobasu.  We'll just stick with "cat bus."  Wouldn't it be great to hop on a ride inside this friendly creature?  There are so many amazing creations within Miyazaki's universe, and we're kind of wanting to do one a week if we can get that squeezed in.  Nana is here and as you could imagine, she has no idea what's going on in these movies, so we frequently have to pick something that she can tolerate.  Nevertheless, we enjoyed this one tonight, just as we did "Spirited Away" a few days ago.  I imagine "Castle in the Sky" or "Howl's Moving Castle" are next, or some of the others we've seen before.  There are a few that we've never seen before in this collection, and those might be soon.

We were working on costuming for Sunday.  The whole church will be "At the Movies," and they were needing some costumed characters up top, so Mom was going through some costuming.  Apparently, we're going to be Star Wars characters this Sunday, just posing for pictures with the kids.  Should be fun.

Meanwhile, I was putting the finishing touches on the "Spies in Disguise" message for next weekend, which should be another good movie-themed message.  Also, it'll go with our "Spy Games" series really well if we ever want to pull that one out.

It was another quiet day today.  School is starting sooner than we think though, and these quiet days are ones Maddie no doubt appreciates, given the fact that school gets things really busy really quickly.  Tonight we read a bit, and then after that prayers of course.  And sleep.
