Tonight we started a new book, one that Daddy just previewed over spring break. It is called "Before the Awakening," and it is somewhat of a set-up to the story that takes place during the movie, "The Force Awakens." We started with the Rey story because it is a little less dark, and also because Madison really likes this character. What girl her age wouldn't like this character? Tonight, Madison is going to sleep, imagining herself hunkered down inside a fallen AT-AT, waiting out the wrathful sandstorm.
No homework tonight, of course. But we did have a return to piano class, which was productive. Madison helped choose one of the songs they'll be singing, and we've got to try and guess again when the ballet recital rehearsal is in order to schedule out our piano recital. Last year we raced across town to dress up like a pirate and play piano. This year, it may be a similar story, although Madison may be dressing up as Cinderella.
It was Taco Tuesday, which according to Madison is something you think of when you're feeling sad. Just remember it's Taco Tuesday, and all is suddenly better. That's good advice!
We did some Mario Party 4 again tonight, although we were getting frustrated with this Dungeon Duo level. I was tempted to bring up the fact that it was Taco Tuesday to cheer Madison up... but thought better of it. The better strategy was to head to bed a little earlier, so that we could spend a little more time reading. Which of course we did. The next few nights, we'll be spending on Jakku. After last week, we can so relate to the sand-in-the-shoes thing.
It was a good day at work for Daddy (and ultimately the family), and things are going well enough despite the massive amount of things left to do. We got a good chunk of work done today, but there is such an enormous load of work to do between now and June. We're excited about July, about kicking back a bit.
Tomorrow morning, some painters are coming, and they'll start the process of actually repainting the house. It'll take a while, so we'll have some guests around our house for a short time. In other news, it's not Sodapalooza yet, but we did sign up for a Racetrac ap today, which meant seven free slushies for the next two weeks. We downed one already, a huge 32 oz. cherry-flavored monster that the three of us split on the way home.
Tonight is "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." once more, which Madison calls "Mommy-Daddy Date Night." We'll be going to sleep right after that, I suspect. Everyone's still recovering from the vacation, which is kind of funny because we didn't really do that much on vacation. Perhaps it was all the sun? Whatever it may be, there are times you need sufficient rest after a vacation, and here we are tonight, still doing a bit of catching up...
