We began our series "Fish Tales" today, and it went off really well. As you can see, our cast above was good to go with a fun skit that sets up another ongoing story about a fishing tournament, one using references from other fishing-themed movies that I'll probably be listing later.
The set was largely the same, although we added a dock, fishing nets, a boat, and of course a sign up there for a bait shop. It's Eddie's Bait Shop, which is a reference to a video we made some time ago. It's an inside joke that only nine or ten of us get. But that doesn't make it any less funny. The picture above is of Pastor Lance talking about our scripture in Mark 1:17, where we're called to be "fishers of people."
Worship was great, and in fact the entire service was nice. Even those videos - we showed a segment of Goofy's "How to Fish," and a few other bits of videos we found online. And then there were the videos we shot as well, including one we filmed yesterday while fishing.
This is going to be a great series. Madison took a lot of notes as always, and when quizzed, she can tell you about Bible stories, and the point of the day, or the bottom line. And that's what we're hoping for. We want the kids to learn that bottom line, those Bible stories, all while having a little fun. Speaking of which, check out this game we were playing with the volunteers:
It's an old game, but it's hilarious. The adult volunteer cannot use his or her hands to eat the doughnut there. Don't worry - there's no hook.
Our cast was spot on with the story, and this whole gang is just so talented. This has been the easiest cast to work with, and each one just loves to hang out with Madison as well.
She loves them too. She had a great time fishing with the gang yesterday, and in fact wound up in the video for today. Pastor Lance called up out during service, because she was the one who caught the fish - it was a nice moment for Madison.
So anyway, lots of pictures, but as you can tell, we're pretty happy with how the service turned out. We went home afterwards, and pretty much took a nap there. And then got up to pack, pack, pack. Big day tomorrow, and we can't wait to get it started!
