One more beautiful sunrise before going home today - everyone was up early this morning, ready to go for one last walk along the beach. As it has been all week, things were quiet out there, the weather perfect too. It was cool, although not so cold that we had to bundle up. Madison and Daddy got their feet wet as the Atlantic Ocean slipped up on us a few times. How does the ocean say goodbye? It just waves!
One more picture of the beach for now, a group shot of the grandparents with Mommy and Madison, and Shadow too. It was time to head home. We said our goodbyes once more, and packed our cars for the long journey home. For the grandparents, it isn't that far to go. For us, it was the start of a long day in the car. We started out well, even better in fact. We took a different bridge in order to leave the barrier island, and saved ourselves a lot of time avoiding Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach. We'd seen enough of those this week, so we were quite content.
Unfortunately, the problems were in Henry County as always. To be fair, it was pretty much any county in between Macon and Atlanta, which gave us cause to seriously rethink our travel route south the next time. As it was, we did some evasive action in Macon, finding an alternate route north that was less than ideal, but at least it moved along well. And as a bonus, we found a nice picture opportunity:
This is the Whistle Stop Cafe, where they filmed the movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes." It was less than four miles off our travel route, and a neat little place to stop in. If anything, the diversion became worth it for a nice photo op, and a rest in some rocking chairs.
Daddy has not seen this movie yet, so as you can imagine, we will soon. Mommy has, and she said it was good. So we'll get around to it soon, no doubt.
Eventually we did get back into the car, and we were on our way home. It took a while, as we went through some places we'd never been to before, off the beaten path. But we did make it home, where we got as much out of the car as we could... and went to bed. Thank you Lord for another safe journey. And for your grace over us this week, with ideal weather and wonderful family memories. Now it's time to get some rest...
