Madison has this mandatory check-list for any trip to Satellite Beach:
1. Friendly's
2. Clue
3. Sand Castle
4. Pool
5. Shells
And that's about it. Of course, we might do a tiny bit more than that this week - not much though. Still, we've got to get to the essentials, which is why we went to Friendly's again this afternoon to get some ginormous bowls of ice cream. Madison collected the crayons and the oversized activity sheet that in no way can fit on a Friendly's table. It goes home with us, or at least back to the condo where it can be slowly worked on throughout the rest of the vacation. As for the ice cream, it was yummy as always.
Next to Friendly's is a grocery store you don't see that often around our neck of the woods: Winn-Dixie. We left the ice cream place to go over and snap a picture in front of Winn-Dixie for Madison's teacher. This year, they were reading "Because of Winn-Dixie," and also watching the movie. We thought it would be fun to pose in front of an actual Winn-Dixie, but we're Leary about going inside for fear of finding a stray dog that we'd have to keep. Of course, that same stray dog could lead us down the road to many an adventure, and introduce us to the lonely people in our community. Nevertheless, we took our chances, and walked into the Wall-Mart instead. There, we found some new shorts for Madison, and a copy of... "The Force Awakens." Yes, we bought our copy at Satellite Beach.
Earlier in the day, Daddy and Madison spent a great deal of time outside building a tremendous castle, probably the biggest construction we'd ever worked on. This one had actual tunnels and spires and a roadway system that went from Merlin's Tower (on the north side of the castle) all the way around the large sand well through the tunnel and back around the southern end of Hurtenflert Castle. We called it Hurtenflert Castle, because it is named after the castle's soul occupant: Stacy Hurtenflert. She's a Vinylmation Wrestler that Madison found here at the condo earlier on. Stacy came out with us, and has a nice perch in her castle, a place to see the ocean waves lap up on shore.
Mommy and Nana and Ba-Ba came to inspect the progress and were impressed. That's about the time that Mommy decided to turn Madison into a mermaid.
Madison rather enjoyed that. And though we didn't get around to a game of Clue today, we did do something new that Madison rather enjoyed: Dominoes. We were off and running with an epic game that didn't quite finish yet, but should do so some time tomorrow. It was Madison's first round of dominoes, and she won a time or two. But everyone had fun.
The weather has been cool in the mornings, and hot enough in the afternoons. Without sun tan lotion, it is easy to get an unpleasant burn. As is, you just know when it is time to retreat indoors. Fortunately, the view here is wonderful, and we leave the balcony door open, listening to the sounds of the waves as they crash in on the shoreline.
