Today was a day off, and a chance to clean up/set up for tomorrow's Fourth of July hijinks. Along the way, there was a return to LEGO Indiana Jones, which is a return to our roots in a way. That game requires setting the Wayback Machine for. Daddy was cleaning off this computer here, which in a way is like our old car, just sort of chugging along at its own pace, thank you very much. Sometimes you look at the iPhoto contents and gasp - there are 8,000 pictures on there or something. And yes, they date back to spring of 2014, and this is the only copy of these pictures you have, and by George, you had better get a back-up copy of those right away. So that's been a bit of a process.
Meanwhile all the while, while the computer grunts and sounds like it is powered by diesel, we move things about in the house. Like the kitchen. Not our entire kitchen, but Madison's play kitchen. It's been a while since that has been played with. And thus, a chapter of all of our lives becomes obsolete, like that imaginary friend Bing Bong from "Inside Out." It's very depressing.
We've made lots of room up there though, room in the playroom area. This will be used for the sewing machine and other artistic endeavors, although it will still be home to a lot of toys, including the Monster High Empire.
Today, Madison went with Daddy for a few chores in the new car. We went to the library to pick up some books, drop off some books, and pick up some propane and some ice for tomorrow's party. On the journey, we listened to Adventures in Odyssey. These were some episodes that were all about our nation's founding. We got to listen to one about the Declaration of Independence, and then another about Paul Revere. Madison was actually listening pretty closely to these this time around, whereas the last time we tried this out it was sort of half and half. This time, she was in the mood to hear a good story, and these are in fact good stories.
Speaking of which, we finished "Jabba the Puppet" today. We simply had no choice. The three of us were reading it upstairs before bedtime, and one chapter just led to another and before you knew it, we were done with the book. I might be wrong in this, but this book too takes some considerable swipes at our current school system. For this reason, Mommy and Daddy were giggling quite a bit as well. Also again, Daddy sort of edited things a bit. But overall, these are fun books. Tomorrow, we start Princess Labelmaker, so we'll see if the force is strong with that one as well.
Mommy has been working hard, preparing food and desserts for tomorrow, when we'll have all our guests come over. Also, we checked out one a future vacation in the not-to-distant future. We just might be going back to Florida a few more times before the year's end...!
