New Car in the Family

Check out my new medal I got for October's virtual marathon!  This is the medal for Corpse Bride themed race, and it came this week in a pretty cool box and everything.  Looks great!  This week, I'm still marching along on the treadmill, still doing this virtual Thanksgiving trail here, which is pretty fun.  There are lots of squirrels along the way, setting tables and having little meals here or there.

Today was a busy day for me with this car.  What car?  Nana and Ye-Ye gave us their car so they could buy a new one for some long-distance travel.  There's a bit of a checklist to go through when getting this registered, and saving some money on taxes too - about $800 saved if you get the right form filled out and signed and notarized and all that.  We got nearly all the boxes checked on this, but it turned out that we actually need the new car suddenly when tonight the current car we're driving started sputtering a bit and the yellow engine light came on.  Time to take that one in!  But it's Friday of course, and so we're glad to have a back-up car with us.  No license plate on it yet, but it's good for us the next week at least - or so I hear.  We'll be driving around with no license plate this weekend, and it's legal at the moment.  The big news to be thankful for of course is that we in fact have a back-up car to take us through the events of the weekend, and there's quite a few!

Okay, here's one thing that Maddie's been up to this week:  Hong Kong Disney.  Maddie was actually there some time ago when she was two years old.  No, she doesn't remember it, but we walked through this castle and visited the park when it was very young too.  What's striking to me are the mountains behind the castle.  You could see the sea from there.  I remember Mom and Maddie on Dumbo of course, but there was also "It's a Small World."  And we saw the Golden Mickeys Show there, and rode the carousel as well.  We went for a couple days in a row, just taking our time walking about the park.  Happy memories - Maddie's first trip to Disney!

Oh my.  Here's a check on our pumpkins in the back yard.  Looks like some have seen better days!

Tonight we finished the main room Christmas tree, and it looks fantastic.  We'll have to share pictures of that later though - I promise!  I was putting those finishing touches on it while we were watching Emmett Otter first - tonight we saw an extended version of that television special, one with Kermit the Frog in it, and some extended versions of certain songs.  Pretty wild seeing these Christmas shows we've seen so many times over so many years, only to discover new sections.  Mom and I watched an interesting version of "A Christmas Carol" after that, one with a lot of dancers and voiceover work.  Definitely different watching a dancing Scrooge in a more ballet sort of performance.  Or at least modern dance.

Maddie got home not long after that from taekwondo, and we did our reading tonight from "Hogfather," and then said our prayers.  Then it was time for some sleep.  I am needing a doctor I think - a lot of things waiting for Monday morning, but we'll get to it!
