Permission to Break Boards

Here's our girl, kicking a board with enough force to break it on her first try.  In practice, she occasionally is unable to break it on that first try, but when it comes to testing, she always amazes.  I mean, come on up Maddie.  "Permission to break the board sir."  And then crack!  Instantly, and if you blink you miss it, she breaks the first board with a tremendous kick, and then the second with a powerful elbow.

It was a good night of testing for all the students.  No one was advancing to any new belt, instead testing towards that next level.  Maddie did very well, and all the parents were on hand to cheer them on.

You can see Mom there at the right looking on as Maddie was doing her form in front of the class.  It's a small part of the new form she's been learning.  She did really well with the portion she's been training for.

There was sparring, and Maddie did really well with a few of these well-timed ducks out of the way.  She was able to anticipate strikes ahead of time, and counter strike very well tonight.

It was a great night!  The rest of the day was fun, of course.  Mom and I were over shopping at a thrift store for Who gear, which is to say things The Whoville residents will be wearing during out production.  We were simultaneously getting our car seen to, just some routine maintenance.  While that was going on, I was wrapping up some things for our newest series, "Extraordinary Tales from the Bible."  It's going to be fun!

This morning's walk in Egypt has been very educational.  I'm rolling along with this iFit program and enjoying it quite a bit.  I get up early to get going, walking over a half-hour each day now, not missing a day yet.  It's been fun, and I'm getting to see some new things and learn as well.

I was in the car line to pick up Maddie today.  I was reading "Wyrd Sisters," another Discworld book that looks like a fun one to read this time of year.  Maddie's got an average week here, with no big tests.  But it's been fun - she's putting together this play in early childhood education - she made a little poster for that.  Perhaps she can talk about that here...

And today was also "Soccer Mom" day at the school, part of their Homecoming Week.  Everyone dresses up a different way each day, so what is it that makes a soccer mom?  Apparently oranges and orange slices...

Yep!  Tomorrow the students can dress up like their teachers, so Maddie will be dressing up like Mrs. Yeager.  That'll be fun.  She's having a great week that leads up to her Homecoming Dance.  Tonight, in fact, we picked up some press-on nails for her for the big night.  She's excited.  Camille is letting her use some high heels that should go with her dress, so we're almost there on the complete look.  Today we were arranging a place to take pictures, which may be the church.

Tonight we watched another episode of Monk, my favorite one just about.  It's the one where he's in a cabin, put there because of witness protection.  We had just enough time to watch that before heading off to bed where we read a little, and then it was time for prayers and a good night's rest.
