Back Home

Well, we did get to sleep in a bit this morning, and that was nice.  We needed it!  Sometimes vacation can wear you out!

Can you believe we caught another squirrel?  THere's something else more sinister on our deck though, and we suspect it's the neighborhood cat.  It's been after the wrens that live inside our outdoor room where we stack the wood, and there was quite a commotion with some unfortunate results.  The next is safe, fortunately, as are the little ones.  I think both parents are okay as well, but there was one bird that succumbed to some terrible wounds that stirred up our anger.  We certainly do not like that cat.

We do like Nana though.  We went over to see her for about two and a half hours today.  This might have something to do with me plugging in a movie that we all watched - the older version of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty."  It was a fun movie, actually, I think from 1947.  Nana was doing okay, although she was in bed when we got there, and not getting up as much as she normally does.  She's certainly in decline.  She managed to get up with some effort and encouragement, and she sat in her lounge chair and talked with us - and Uncle George on the phone too.  We brought some grapes and British chocolates for her, which she appreciated, and we talked for a while about the usual things.  Some of the same questions over and over again from her, of course, although not so much of an irritating way of asking.  Her memory is challenged, and that's too bad.  Having just hung up the phone with George, within about two minutes she was asking how George was doing.  That sort of thing.

It was a decent day, a much quieter day.  We had all these photos of the last week, and here we are today with hardly any.  Maddie had Team Edge practice this morning, and was busy with that for a bit.  There was some fun learning new weapons - Maddie is wanting to move forward with nunchucks a bit.  There was some fooling around too, but they're allowed that after so much work.

We took squirrel 43 down to be released, and completed our "redneck trip" with the stop over at the RaceTrac to get some ice cream.  The three of us got different soft-serves and had them finished before we even got back home again.

It was a quiet day, a quiet Saturday.  Certainly compared to last week.  I mean, just yesterday we were in Dollywood.  So it's okay to get some rest, which we certainly did.  Tomorrow is church, and we got some sleep early.  Before that, of course we read and we prayed.  We had dinner at Milliways, the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and it's been a great visit there.

Here's a great picture of the restaurant I found online.  The concept behind this restaurant has always been a pretty wild, a bizarre stop at the end of timeline where patrons are entertained with music from the Cataclysmic Combo band, some well-cooked steaks from voluntary talking cattle, and of course a first-hand view of the end of the universe.  The parking lot is filled with all kinds of spacecraft, and it's time to go.  We'll meet Marvin again, and zip out of there leaving Hotblack Desiato the bill.
