Spy Work

Today was a day to catch up on our "Spy" work, and Nana was there to help out again.  Mom brought her in to work, and along with the other staff workers, we were spending a good amount of time wrapping up the prep work for our new series that debuts this Sunday.  Of course, it's not a "new" series so much as a new edition of it.  It's amazing how many of these series we've done at KidPak this year, and if you told me we'd be doing so many of these at the beginning of 2020, I'd either panic or laugh about it.  But wow, we've done a lot.  Usually, at least lately, we've done about six to eight a year.  This year, we started out with "All Aboard," then went to "Northern Lights," followed by the Great Shutdown's online series "Faith Over Fear," "Miracles," "The Quest," "Unleashed," "Wildfire," "Under the Sea," "Trailblazers," "Time Travelers," and here we are at "Spy Games" with "A Very Merry Tribes Christmas" coming up.  That's twelve series this year, which is somewhat like KidPak's beginnings.  The difference, of course, is the nature of each series, and the lack of a new set design each month or other aspects.  This has been a great series to catch up on certain things though, making devotionals for series that didn't have them, or writing material for series that needed some additional things.

One fun part of this latest run is the continuation of our characters from "Trailblazers."  Ever since we were back in KidPak again, meeting at church together once more, we've kept the same cowboy characters through that series, and then had them going through time travel, and now they are in this spy-themed series.  It should be fun to see where this goes.

Tonight we watched "A Smoky Mountain Christmas," and we're on an amazing page to see the most Christmas movies we've ever seen in a single Christmas season.  We'll be dipping into some super obscure stuff by December at this rate!  We're watching one a night at least, and let me just go ahead and say I have no idea why this one is not on DVD or Blu-Ray yet.  It's a movie we have to watch each year, one we all enjoy seeing each Christmas season.  Sure, it's a television movie from the 80's.  But it's such a pleasant movie, sort of like a trip up to the Smoky Mountains.  We all sat on the couch to watch this one, and the other thing that premiered today, episode two of "The Mandalorian."  After watching that one, all I can say is "pleasant feeling's gone!"  This one featured the giant spiders that were a big part of the "Rebels" series, and ... yikes.  On the plus side, there was a giant ant.  It's just a great show, a nice chance to dive into the Star Wars galaxy, even if there are giant spiders.

It was another day, another up-and-down day for Nana, but at least she's settled down into two general modes.  One is overwhelming grief, while the other is a fully functional human being.  While that sounds overly analytical, the bottom line is this:  she's getting better each day.  There are terrible, terrible moments that frequently strike, but it is getting better.  And in her defense, it hasn't even been two months since Ba-Ba's passing.  It can be challenging and stressful, but we have to keep loving and keep empathizing and keep doing all we can to help her in any way we can.

Tonight we prayed for Nana, and we prayed for our nation, and the mess it is in.  We read some more about Mara Jade's adventures, and soon after that, we were ready for some sleep.  Tomorrow, we get to sleep in!
